One of my favorite films at AI Film 3 was DUCK by @aifilmlab Jose Alvarez.

My one wish for the festival? More filmmakers in the room. So when I couldn’t stop thinking about his film, I reached out. A quick Zoom call turned into a 3.5-hour conversation about film, craft, and the work behind the work.

When I told him he’s a master of his craft, he said, “I’m not a master, I’m just passionate about films.”

That’s exactly it. The passion shows in every detail of what he makes.

This is why finding your community matters. The tools are new, but behind every AI film is a human with a vision!

Meet my most trusted creative director. 🏐

He never interrupts. He never checks his phone. And he has never once told me an idea was “too much.”

Wilson sits front and center on my desk, and yes, we talk. He helps me operate with intention, care, and love. Our best sessions are the deep ones about strategy and creative direction, usually right when I’ve got three screens going and my focus is about to splinter.

Here’s what keeps me grounded when the tabs start multiplying:

1. Give every screen one job. Design on the left, generation in the middle, editing on the right. When a screen tries to do two things, I end up doing zero.

2. Say it out loud. If I can’t explain the idea to a volleyball, it’s not ready for a client. Talking it through exposes the gaps fast.

3. Set the intention before you open the tool. What am I making, who is it for, and how should it make them feel? Then I create.

4. Care about the work, not just the output. AI makes it easy to make more. Focus is choosing to make it better.

5. Lead with love, including toward yourself. Step away, refill the mug, and come back with fresh eyes.

Focus isn’t about shutting everything out. It’s about knowing what deserves your attention.

Behind every AI film is a human. 🎬

At AI Film 3 in Phoenix, @aifilm3 I sat in Auditorium 1 and watched about 74 films. Every one of them had a writer, a director, a designer, an editor, a composer: real people making hundreds of creative choices no tool could make for them. The tools are new. The creativity is human.

Human creativity. AI films are human. 🧡

What if every small win in your day came with sparkles and roses? 🌸✨

I turned an ordinary day in my life as a product designer into a 1970s shōjo anime. The sunrise floods my apartment with sparkles. A cherry-blossom walk to work turns heads. A perfect wireframe gets the reaction of a love confession. Sticky notes bring happy tears. A window seat above pink sunset clouds becomes a daydream. A plate of pasta arrives and roses bloom. A rooftop toast with friends at golden hour. And one last wink from my laptop, signed 8SecPrompt.

Every frame stars my AI digital twin, redrawn as a retro shōjo heroine: hand-painted watercolor skies, star-filled eyes, film grain, and all the drama that era did best. Built in Google Flow and edited in Premiere Pro.

A year ago I had a dream… that I was an AI Film Director. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This jacket danced before I ever wore it. 🧥

I found this reversible raincoat at @voilaboutiquescottsdale Voila Boutique in Scottsdale. It’s printed with the famous photo of Marilyn Monroe in her white halter dress, and I knew right away I wanted to turn it into a short film. Here’s what that actually took.

The first challenge: AI video tools won’t recreate a real celebrity. Every time I named Marilyn in a prompt, I got an error. So I stopped naming her. I described the print instead, as a vintage 1950s photo of a blonde woman in a white halter dress, and let my own photos of the jacket carry the exact image.

The second challenge: keeping the jacket consistent. AI loves to redraw things. The back would come out different from the front, and the toggles would change from shot to shot. The fix was building the jacket as a 3D product first. I photographed every angle, mapped every detail (the grommets, the toggles, the cuffs, the solid black reverse side), and generated front, back, side, and close-up renders. Those renders became the ingredients for every scene, so the jacket stays the same no matter how it moves.

Then I let it dance. No model, no mannequin, just the jacket in a loft.

What I learned: a one-of-a-kind piece deserves more than a flat lay. Virtual try-on and AI video give boutiques a new way to show movement, fit, and personality before a customer ever walks through the door.

And honestly? I love my new fall jacket. I can’t wait to wear it if I ever head back to Boston. 🍂
