Cortlandt Florence, a class of 2029 defensive back out of Miami Norland Senior High School, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds, already drawing significant attention as one of the more intriguing young prospects in the state of Florida. In his most recent campaign, Florence recorded two interceptions, three pass breakups, and 18 tackles — 12 of which came unassisted — numbers that carry real weight given how early he is in his high school career. On film, what stands out most is his ability to track receivers through their routes, staying in phase whether working man coverage on the boundary or carrying a receiver vertically down the field. He demonstrates the spatial awareness and ball recognition that typically takes years to develop, showing comfort in both his pedal and transition without false steps that cost him ground. His length at 6 feet gives him natural tools to contest at the catch point, and his 12 solo tackles suggest he is also willing to contribute against the run — a complete trait for a corner. The closing speed he shows when breaking on the ball is a clear asset, and his overall feel for the position suggests a player who processes the game quickly rather than relying on pure athleticism alone. Florence already holds offers from East Carolina, the University of Miami, SMU, FIU, Temple, UMass, and the University of North Carolina, with five years remaining before graduation, and the trajectory here points toward a prospect whose recruitment will only intensify. by @8skii____
