24 hours in the jungle.

Heavy rain, flooded trails, bamboo, fire, mud, and learning how much you can actually do with very little.

What started as survival training quickly became a lesson in adapting to whatever the environment gives you. Build with what you find. Keep the fire alive. Stay dry when you can. Keep moving when you can’t.

Somewhere between the storm, the smoke and the long night, you start appreciating how valuable the simplest skills can be.

24 hours in the jungle. 🌧️🌿

We went in expecting survival training. The storm made sure we got the full experience.

If you’re planning something similar, here are a few things worth knowing:

What to expect:
🥾 Trekking with all your gear
🌧️ Rain, mud, humidity, and insects
🔪 Bolo and bamboo work
🔥 Fire making and camp cooking
🎋 Using natural materials around you
🍌 Cooking with bamboo
🌙 A night in the jungle
💧 Managing your water, energy, and equipment

What I’d bring:
• 3 to 4L of water
• Good rain protection
• Headlamp + spare batteries
• Mosquito repellent
• Quick-dry clothes
• One completely dry set for sleeping
• Proper trail footwear
• Gloves
• First-aid kit
• Power bank
• Dry bags or ziplocks for electronics
• A sleeping setup you’ve already tested
• Simple food to prepare

Biggest lessons?

Pack light. Every unnecessary kilogram eventually makes itself known.

Prioritize the basics. Water, footwear, rain protection, lighting, and sleep gear matter more than looking tactical.

Keep one set of clothes completely dry. Trust me, you’ll appreciate it later.

Waterproof your electronics before the rain starts, not when you’re already soaked.

Know how your gear works before you get there.

And expect to be uncomfortable. That’s part of what makes the experience worthwhile.

You don’t need to be a survival expert. Come prepared, respect the environment, listen to your instructors, and be willing to get wet, muddy, and tired.

The storm made this one significantly harder, but also a lot more memorable.

Would you spend 24 hours out here? 🌿

Save this for your next outdoor trip.

OPORDs: CHAOS ⚠️

When bad comms and language barriers arise, the language everyone understands is PURE NOISE.

And that’s exactly what we do best.

Operation: APEX was a blast for the boys, and it was a net positive first run with all the teams under the Barangay Umbrella.

DET-13, for anyone, but not for everyone.

Operation: Apex | DET-13 | King of the Hill

I came into Operation: Apex representing Black Water Unit, rolled with 917th SOU, and fought alongside friends from the Global Barangay community, all moving as one unit under DET-13.

At Edades Farm, Batangas, the battle between Blue Force and Red Force settled into a brutal stalemate. Push after push met resistance. Ground was gained, contested, and taken back. For most of the game, neither side was willing to break.

Then came the final push.

With one valiant advance, our team on Blue Force broke through the deadlock, captured the flag, and secured the hill. After a hard-fought battle, DET-13 emerged as King of the Hill.

This video is a look back at that fight, the pressure, the movement, and the final moment that decided it all.

Op: Apex was a successful event and the first GBB only milsim at this scale in the Philippines.

It was a challenging King of the Hill scenario where two opposing forces went head to head to capture the flag. It tested everyone’s physical strength and endurance.

Despite a long standing stalemate all day, the blue team led one final charge to finally capture the flag and was named King of the Hill!

This involved a lot of team coordination and solid squad tactics.

We are looking forward to the growth of this community and to future events like this. by @917th.sou

These dudes are getting better in the water. Way more comfortable, confident, and in control when things get stressful. The real question is, are they ready for the upcoming drills? Or are they about to find out where their limits really are? Time to see who stays composed and who ends up seeing stars. #luminoxph by @917th.sou

We increased the drill intensity for CL02-26. Trainees were subjected to a series of stress tests and spent extended time at depth. These drills are designed to build resilience and improve control under high-stress conditions. #luminoxph by @917th.sou
