Today is the first of two appointments with the Veteran’s Evaluation Services for my husband with dementia. Today’s appt. is online to evaluate my request for VA assistance for David’s continued care. I am his appointed legal guardian and applying for this assistance as his disease progresses. My prayer is that the online meeting goes well and the October 12 in person appointment locally goes well too.

I’ve been caring for him since his initial diagnosis about five years ago. I know the time will come when I alone will not be enough. Currently we have a caretaker from Hone Instead that comes for four hours once a week to give me a break. I am working part time which allows me time away for a break and a purpose other than caretaking.

So becoming his legal guardian and applying for VA assistance is my efforts to keep him at home as long as possible. I’ll continue seeking other support as time goes on.

I appreciate your thoughts and prayers for him and for me. by @9903baw

Cloudy and in the 80s is a welcome break today. Even got a couple drops of rain. Mostly peaceful on the back porch minus the traffic sounds and sirens chasing the bad guys and first responding. 🥹

Watered and fed the turtles earlier and counted nine of them coming out for a drink. Sundays are for rest and reflection. by @9903baw
