“Big Sister Chat” is an outreach initiative designed for girls aged 15-21, aiming to educate and empower them in areas such as academic achievement, personal hygiene, and sex education, emphasizing self-love and etiquette refinement as essential perspectives.

Yesterday, I was given the opportunity to go back to my alma mater to talk to the SS3 girls, prior to that I had gone to Queen’s College and the ‘je ne sais quoi’, QC girls generally have, wasn’t there, it broke my heart. The young ladies lacked confidence amongst their peers and basic etiquette & composure, like sitting properly in a skirt.

This is a general problem of ladies within that age range, trust me.

I have been obsessed with self-development right from a young age, I’d say it was fanned by Queen’s College, with Mrs Njoku being a role model and etiquette/mentoring classes every Tuesdays.

In a nutshell, BSC is all about ‘bringing the young girls to the yard.’

Soft skills are always overlooked because they hardly bring us physical merits but you’d be surprised at the doors they can open for you.

I’ve been immensely blessed with having older women in my circle, whom I’m free with and can have regular intimate bants and conversations with, all the while LEARNING so much, these women not only pour into me but hold my hand and call me out when I slack!

That’s the aim of BSC 💝💬

At the #NAICE YP workshop 2026, Mama Tiger @sophiaexceptional gave us 5 charges.

Curiosity

Courage
Value Creation

And when I looked within at the debate competition @pullhernetwork would be hosting for the international day of the girl child in October, these charges summarized just that.

I had a close friend who represented her state for the MBGN.

I remember telling my dad and he asked why I didn’t sign up.

I told him I wasn’t tall and slim enough, that I’ve never seen a petite woman like me win.

He explained to me that the reason for contests, competitions and pageants wasn’t for the grand prize alone.

You walk out with a lot of soft skills and visibility.

The goal is very simple @pullhernetwork Debate Competition 1.0, PLATFORM BRILLIANCE.

But also, give young girls avenue to learn important skills like:
Critical thinking 💭
How to research 🔬
Relational competition
Articulation and eloquence
Emotional regulation and intelligence.
Poise and etiquette.

What do you think you’re doing?

Why do you enjoy wasting money on transportation, entrance fee, looking good just to come back home with nothing.

In life, transactions are always made.

Understand that.

Your ability to go out, make friends , pitch yourself and convert that network to sth tangible would give you an edge in life.
