[Lázálom] - a composition for voice, violin, viola, violoncello, bass-clarinet, fixed media and synthesizer.

Daniel Zea and @festival_lesamplitudes invited me to compose and premiere a piece for the wonderful NEC (Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain) at Temple Allemands in La Chaux-de-Fonds back in May.

Here are some impressions of the rehearsal process and a tiny peak of the performance. The whole experience was very meaningful and shifted my perception of possibilities.

Much gratitude to Daniel for the trust, encouragement and the challenge, Les Amplitudes for the warm welcome, @lenec.ch for being so open minded and kind, Max for being such an amazing supportive wizard, @katarinagryvul for her generous guidance through the realms of graphic scores and composition process, @lipskaem for inspiring me with a tear of a siren (we are all connected) and @sarahnemtsov for opening the door ;) and and and ..

An installative A/V performance

‘Drawing on Székely-Hungarian and Finnish folklore traditions, artists Tekla Valy and Réka Csiszér create three shifting environments in which memory, myth, and subconscious impulses collide. Forests become living beings, houses begin to remember, and children’s games transform into ritual acts suspended between comfort and danger.

Inspired by horror cinema, oral traditions, and dream logic, the work unfolds as an interdisciplinary performance combining sound, moving image, and theatrical installation. Within a freely navigable performance space, voices emerge like transmissions from other realities, bodies appear and disappear through darkness and mist, and fragmented images blur the boundaries between presence and illusion.

This evening approaches folklore not as an object of nostalgia or historical reconstruction, but as a living psychological system – a space in which collective fears, desires, and inherited instincts continue to manifest in contemporary life. Hovering somewhere between opera, ritual, hallucination, and cinematic dreamscape, the performance creates an immersive sensory world where all realities blur and flow into one another.’

Out today on Asadun Alay Records:
Le Révélateur by Réka Csiszér @____v___i____z___ & Radwan Ghazi Moumneh @radwanghazimoumneh (AAR 004) is now available on vinyl and digital.

The project began as a live cine-concert for Philippe Garrel’s 1968 film “Le Révélateur” and developed gradually through a series of performances before being recorded between Montréal and Zurich in late 2025 and early 2026.

Using voice, cello, buzuq, rababa, electronics, and field recordings, the duo developed the material through improvisation before recording it in a more fixed form. The music remains closely tied to the atmosphere of Garrel’s film while avoiding the structure of a conventional soundtrack.

Réka Csiszér & Radwan Ghazi Moumneh will be touring the project this summer, with additional dates to be announced soon. A Montréal release performance with a projection of the film is also planned for October.

We also want to thank A Closer Listen @acloserlisten for their generous review of the album and interview with Radwan. They write:

“What Csiszér and Moumneh achieve is not an interpretation but a coexistence. Their music inhabits the same liminal space as the film, where sound and image drift alongside one another without resolution. In Le Révélateur, nothing is explained; instead, everything lingers—dissolving into a quiet, unresolved presence that continues beyond the frame.”

A reminder that Le Révélateur by Réka Csiszér @____v___i____z___ & Radwan Ghazi Moumneh @radwanghazimoumneh is out May 15 on Asadun Alay Records (AAR 004).

The record began as a live score to Philippe Garrel’s 1968 film Le Révélateur, and was developed over several performances before being recorded between Montréal and Zurich.

Today also happens to be Bandcamp Friday, with all proceeds going directly to artists and labels. If you’ve been meaning to spend some time with the first two excerpts, or to support the work early, it’s a good moment to do so.

Pre-orders are up now via Bandcamp.

Réka Csiszér & Radwan Ghazi Moumneh - Le Révélateur (AAR 004)

Réka Csiszér @____v___i____z___ is a Hungarian-Transylvanian vocalist and multidisciplinary artist working across music, theatre, and film, moving between composition, improvisation, and extended vocal techniques.

Radwan Ghazi Moumneh @radwanghazimoumneh is a Lebanese artist, producer, and musician based in Montréal, known for Jerusalem In My Heart and his ongoing work with voice, sound, and questions of identity and displacement.

The material was developed through performance, then recorded in Montréal in late 2025. Using voice, cello, buzuq, rababa, electronics, and field recordings, they keep the palette sparse and tense: pieces that stretch, hold, and occasionally fray.

The work stays close to Le Révélateur, but doesn’t follow the logic of a conventional score. It runs alongside it, maintaining a distinct structure.

Recorded and mixed between Zurich & Montréal in November 2025 and February 2026 by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh.

Mastered by Harris Newman @harrisnewman12.
