my first group show (09/25)

shot these two photographs (age 20) in my hometown when i began to straddle the line between adolescence and adulthood, in terms of wanting to be desired. the longing for another body, next to mine in this lifetime. that awkward friction of intimacy and rage.

at the time, i deeply hated these photographs. like they were cancerous beings. i once believed, prior, that to produce something like this, where i had no room to move forward ... i felt like a cat who is kicked to the curb. or a wall that was punched. only this year had i unearthed them; i truly began to appreciate how they shaped my visual language. how i began to identify tragedy, the macabre, and yearning as omnipresent characters who haunt my life and narrative ❤️‍🩹
