I want to extend a special thank you to everyone who came out to 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 1.

such a beautiful night gathering and being ushered into a cozy space to slow down and take in the rush of life through music and poetry. Genuinely so thankful for the energy that was created in the room by everyone who was a part of this night <3

we started off with @exitm00n and @sportsssssssssssssssssssss ushering us into the night with beautiful soundscapes that let down all inhibitions, followed by speculations poets who embodied the word resonant, and the open mic on the porch which allowed so many to be and feel seen.

@thisisnteveninteresting and I collaborated on the reference table, featuring books and texts that have been in our orbit and fueling the work we do directly, giving a direct look into the works that inspire, alongside postcards I made for folks to take home (and send to someone!)

At the end of the night, @thisisnteveninteresting, @puffin_on_puffin, @uchechiing, and I announced the upcoming release of our anthology 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘵, scheduled to be out August 2026. The book is a collection of poetry and visual text manipulations that capture the essence of black femme waywardness, following practices and philosophies outlined by Saidiya Hartman from her seminal novel Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments. 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 2 will take place in August to commemorate the release, so mark your calendars 💌

on Saturday June 6th, come and be ushered into the space of black femme waywardness at Speculations, by way of ambient sounds, readings, and a free mic.

hosted by @____uhruba and with a plethora of talented artists, this show is serving as a pre-release show for an imminent publication. We will have sounds by [@exitm00n and @sportsssssssssssssssssssss], followed by readings of original poetry from [@thisisnteveninteresting @uchechiing @puffin_on_puffin and myself], and then the chance for you to express your own waywardness on a free mic.

The event is free, and there will be light refreshments as well as postcards available for free. Hope to see you next Saturday at 7pm, just dm for the address! ❥
