💙 This Barbie has type 1 diabetes 💙

If I had grown up with a Barbie who wore an insulin pump, maybe I would’ve spent less time wishing mine wasn’t there, and maybe I would’ve learned sooner that there’s nothing wrong with the parts of me that beep and buzz and keep me alive.

I made this outfit as a tribute to the version of me who needed to see herself reflected, and to every kid growing up with type 1 who deserves to feel normal too. Representation might seem small, but for kids like me, it’s everything 💉

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and I’m so grateful to live in a time where little girls can finally see themselves in the Barbie dream!✨

I dreamed of this dress long before I ever wore it, stitched together in childhood hopes and fairytale wishes. I was always the little girl who dreamed about her wedding dress, sketching dresses in the margins of all my notebooks.

This dress was more than fabric, it was a memory in the making, a piece of every romantic dream I ever had. It held me on one of the happiest days of my life, which are some of the best moments of my life. 💕

As I prepare to preserve it, I’m giving it the goodbye it deserves… one last twirl, one last photo, one last memory. Tucking it away with a full heart and misty eyes, thank you for the magic✨

I am so lucky to have opened my mailbox to find October’s Blue House Post inside 💌

Three years in Florida. Two years in our little house (which is somehow the longest I’ve lived anywhere since my childhood home). And it was definitely long enough for this house to hold our routines, our laughter, our two sweet dogs, our hardest days, and so many little moments that became the very best memories.

Pensacola was the backdrop to the beginning of our marriage. We found some wonderful people along the way, learned some difficult lessons, chased dreams, and had to let a few go.

And while there has been so much good here, these years have also been some of our most difficult times of our lives.

So now, I’m ready to put this book up on the shelf and begin to write our next chapter, but I know I’ll look back on this time with so much love and gratitude 🥹
