I think that our rooms can, at times, be an underappreciated concept. Think about it. Sometimes they can feel like the hardest place to leave, but they're just as often the easiest to enter. After a day abroad facing the world and what it has in store, they await us. When all else fails, my rooms gives me room. Room to unwind. Room to reflect. Room to meditate. Room to create. Room to express. Room to reminisce. For the time that they're ours, they're our little piece of peace. -
HOME has been a lovely journey with ya'll. Door's that way, please let yourself out. Jokes aside, though this volume has ended, I enjoyed the process of creating it. This series will definitely be back. .

If you were to stop by my place, chances are you'd hear someone pounding away at chords on a keyboard. Doesn't matter what time. Noon. 7p.m. 4 a.m. Sometimes it's a passtime. But more times than not, especially after a long day out and about dealing with the world, it's a form of release. My fingers don't glide over the keys like most pianists; I've only had a few months of formal training. But I find my way to articulate what I feel through what I've taught myself. I feel the ambiguity of music gives us a palette to paint the emotions of a moment with more than what words can describe. A melody to the moment, if you will. .

I've been home these past few months more than I could've foreseen. And in that time, I've come to see my surroundings through a new lens. Appreciate it in ways I didn't think to before. So, welcome to something new from me. Welcome to my Home. //
For as long as I can remember, my mother has always had a special place in her heart for her gardens. They were small plots we had to dig and till ourselves to be hospitable for her flowers. But, the hard work we put in to create them and the dedication she shows to maintain them have never faltered. There was a time I hated nothing more than the mention of having to do garden work. The sun would scorch my skin. The wasps would chase me. And if they didn't, the mosquitos were more than happy to oblige. But, every year there was always the same satisfaction of watching each plant we laid grow into something that our whole neighborhood could marvel at. Even if only for a few days. Before, I would have never. But creating these gardens was so much more than that. Our talks about life. The stories we shared. The secrets I learned. So you see, it isn't just my grandfather's roses or lilies from Florida that've grown in our garden. It's our bond.
