🗓 Thursday, January 16th
⏰ 9 PM

This session will dive into the question of how to make sense of the surreal? With three stunning animated shorts – Maurice’s Bar, Asparagus, and Plastic Semiotic – we’ll experience surreal worlds that blend humor, introspection, and abstraction.

🎬 Winter Boy (2022) by Christophe Honoré
📍 @mariadezasseis - Rua Maria Pia 16
⏰ 8 PM

Join us for the final screening of the year, where we close the season with a tale as fitting as its title. Winter Boy is a story of grief and frustration, a winter tale in every sense – a time for endings, reflection, and quiet transformation 🔮

Honoré’s coming-of-age narrative resonates across generations. Echoes of Truffaut’s 400 Blows remind us of cinema’s timeless exploration of youth, while Winter Boy firmly plants itself in today’s cinematic landscape. Think Guadagnino or Ozon – depictions of male youth marked by hedonism and fleeting moments, but here with something more enduring. Honoré eschews nostalgia, offering instead a raw, lasting sentimentality that lingers well beyond the closing frame. by @___thekinocollective

🎥 Quick Frames by The Kino Collective
🗓 Wednesday, December 4th
⏰ 9 PM
📍 Sala Lisa @a.sala.lisa

We’re back for another session of Quick Frames by The Kino Collective at Sala Lisa! Join us as we mix cinema with the laid-back vibe of a bar: grab a drink, meet fellow film enthusiasts, and experience two thought-provoking short films 😏

This time, we’re tackling one of the most fundamental yet elusive questions: HOW TO BE A HUMAN? Through Tavern Man by Aki Kaurismäki and Incoherence by Bong Joon Ho, we’ll journey into the quiet struggles of everyday life and the contradictions that shape our actions and identities. These films invite us to reflect on vulnerability, connection, and the moral complexities that come with simply existing.

🎥 Waltz with Bashir, Ari Folman (2008)
📍 Rua Maria Pia 70 at @nipp_studio
📅 Wednesday, November 27th
🕗 8 PM

Waltz with Bashir goes beyond recounting the past. It’s a searing exploration of the accountability that comes after war and the lasting trauma it leaves behind. Through animated documentary, Ari Folman confronts the gaps in memory and the burden of facing truths long buried.

In a world still grappling with the aftermath of violence and the responsibility to reckon with it, this film feels more relevant than ever. Join us for a powerful screening that invites reflection on war’s enduring impact and our collective role in its legacy ❤️‍🩹

Is this a documentary? Is this a book? If you accept the confusion and let the poetry be, you will see it takes courage to simply follow reality as it plays out.

In the town of Twin Peaks everyone has secrets, but no one quite like Laura Palmer, homecoming queen by day and drug-addicted thrill seeker by night 🥀

Essentially a prequel to Lynch’s iconic TV series, this movie resurects Laura Palmer to reveal her final 7 days in a Lynchian surreal psychological horror.

Who’s excited ??

Join us next Thursday, November 2nd at 8PM 🔪🩸
