A time of transition ❤️
A week ago today I lost my foundation. Family is a loaded, complicated and unique concept for all of us but moments like these can cause you to pause and reflect on how someone has truly impacted your life. My dad taught me how to listen. He taught me how to work. He taught me how to be kind. He taught me how to be respectful, but also how to stand up for myself and for others. My dad taught me what strength SHOULD be and how that actually means being gentle. My dad taught me a lot of things that shaped who I am today despite the fact that he didn’t often listen to his own teachings. A lot of those lessons came from silence and stillness. A lot of those lessons came from him doing one thing while seemingly urging me to do the opposite. I do not settle because of him. I am open and honest about when I am hurting because of him. I seek help when I need it because of him. He was honest with me enough to tell me that he didn’t have the answers for everything and I respect the hell out of him for moments like that. He amazed me and impressed me just as much as he confused me and frustrated me, but I love him dearly and I forgive him and I’m glad that he’s finally resting. I know he’s with me and I know I can always break the 4th wall with him and laugh at a ridiculous situation or just give him a look and know he understands what I’m thinking. Much love to ya my man ❤️ taken in Carmel Beach CA by @__camlee__
