Love, Ebby on Substack
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Well, I've carved out a new space for myself. The "Love, Ebby x" substack space 🥰

Why the name 'Love, Ebby'?
Well, this creative lagoon is all about the things that light me up creatively and about living a creative life. And, well, one of the main things that lights me up the most is giving. Giving gifts, giving advice, giving knowledge, giving energy, giving creative artworks, giving ideas, giving myself. The exchange for me means so much more than any sale ever could. My friends kids call me Ebby, and at the bottom of their birthday cards I began to write "Love, Ebby x" and tied it on to their wrapped present of my making. My heart to theirs. The most beautiful exchange. I just absolutely love to give my creations and I wanted this new space to celebrate this.

I'll be sharing all things creativity, art, craft, projects, business, creative living, home rhythms, advice, techniques, and everything in between. Really, anything that lights me up.

No more things for sale, or coaching sessions to book. Instead I'll be sharing my wisdom and my bits and pieces of learned knowledge for my community to enjoy as a group.

To my paid subscribers you'll receive connection, knowledge, joy, community, and a chance to win original artworks 💛

I've found it hard to stay within the time constraints of social media, so I'm giving myself the gift of time and space over on Substack for those who love to interact with more long-form content.

I love you all and thanks for being part of my creative community 🌺 by @__ebonydew

How the avatar actually turned out ✨️

The assignment: create a vector graphic avatar of yourself - no a.i help.

Originally I wanted to create this with different colours and with the flower behind the head as you could see in my previous post with the sketch, but we landed somewhere more refined.

2-toned colour palette, sassy vibes, clean yet organic lines ✔️

I think I did pretty good for my first time using the pen tool 😅 iykyk.

What do you reckon? Send the marking gods the good energy plz 🤞🏽🤞🏽 by @__ebonydew

My favs from assignment 2.

The brief: create 2x postcards for an art exhibition following one element of design each. You must only use found objects around your home. No art supplies.

Postcard 1: element = Space
For this one I used paper to cut out the shape of a flower, then held it up to create a shadow over treated pine.

Postcard 2: element = Space
This one is paper cut into a spiral, laid flat over timber decking.

Postcard 3: element = Space
Same cut out flower, placed over timber decking, using the screw in place of the O.

Postcard 4, 5, & 6: element = Colour
These 3x were created using my handbag straps shaped and twisted behind a glass of water and photographed at different angles to expand colours.

I am having a very hard time choosing which pieces to submit 😂 loving this assignment though! by @__ebonydew

In the last 3 years, I have been asked the same things over and over (and still to this day) ...

Do you teach your Library of Lost Emotions work? What's the technique? What materials are you using?

And the answer has been no, but - honestly, I would love to teach this and share it with you. I just haven't landed on the best way how.

Truthfully, the most difficult part of this work is not access to materials, or the literal painting technique itself, but rather an allowance of possibilities, and a truthful exploration of self.

The point of this work is for it to reflect back at you the inner landscape of self, and that is why I named my own collection the Library of Lost Emotions. They are feelings without names, understood energies with no connected literal meaning.

The reason I'm finding it hard to generate a course for this is because it relies so heavily on my own teaching being present with you in the room. I want to make sure that key element of the experience is preserved and I haven't figured out if offering something online would truly satisfy the work to its best capacity. I have a knack for reading energy and adjusting to suit the person or people I'm working with as a group, so I'm finding it tricky to know how to offer this without having anyone in the room!

I'd love to know, if you are one of the many, many people who have reached out to learn this, would it be something you would want to do live with me (online or in person), or something you'd want to do in your own time with a pre-recorded session? Everyone is individual in their needs and experience and I really want to do it justice if I do decide to dive into this teaching.

Please drop a comment below with your wish-list! This will help me deliver this the best way possible to you 💌

Last question, would you be fine with sourcing your own materials, or would you prefer to purchase a pack from me for the sessions?

New Love, Ebby substack post arrived this morning.
Struggling with creative block? This one is for you.

Chatting about the main area where I fell short in my creative business 🤭

From the article:

"...On reflection, the most creative times in my personal life and in work were always when I has set myself, or been given (with, and without conscious awareness) parameters with which to create within."

The challenge: follow one element of design, use only inspiration from your home.

The results following texture and line:
1. Bag straps distorted through a glass of water
2. Up close orchid patterns
3. Up close shell patrern
4. Line work from my nasturtiums
5. Intricate patterns on an old cowrie shell
6. Naturally overlapping palms
6. The spiral lines of a shell

Loving this assignment so far. I can see these all being used for backdrops or shape and colour inspiration for future work.

Love Ebby - the podcast: episode 1

Today on the Love, Ebby substack I've shared a 2x part audio recording and called it a podcast. Its very exciting for me 🥰
In this episode I'm chatting about creative fuel - what it is, where it comes from, how to get it - and then following with the outlet, aka: where to put the energy.

I hope you enjoy ✌️🌴

New article today: Hunting for shells

"You’re walking, combing the sand amongst the living creatures for the ‘one’: the shell to beat all shells.

You hope and hope that the next step, the next part of sandscape your eyes land on will be the one. You imagine roughly what it might look like. What colours will it have? Will it be huge? What will it’s shape be?

Twisting, turning, searching, searching.

In the corner of your eye you spot something, you do a double take. Can it be? The most perfect shell, sitting here right next to me this whole time? Your heartrate beats fast, the lungs expand wider and the sense of giddy excitement races through your bloodstream like bubbles in sparkling water.

You reach for it, the moment building, the atmosphere surrounding you boiling in the heightened pressure of anticipation. Reaching the shell, you close your eyes and look up sending a silent prayer to the mermaid gods that the underside is as perfect as the top. You pick it up, look down and …"

Rest is a business expenses.

New post on Substack today chatting about reframing rest and time off as a business expense rather than a luxury. This topic came about during a CBT session where we discussed the need to embrace the element of time off as a cost to your business that you can plan for. As creatives, its absolutely ESSENTIAL for creative fuel and your imagination catalogue!

Time off and rest also relate to working in YOUR natural rhythm, not others. Take it from me who tried to shift her natural flow and ended up with a shoulder injury that ultimately led to the closing of my business.

This is one you won't want to miss. Link in my bio.
