“CRAWL INTO MY MIND” (2020)

All made with markers and ink on an inner tent cabin
(a hell to make on a moving surface:)

Use your zoom-in effect, yes it’s all connected.

Work made for my entrance exam at GRA.
Initially for the idea of being able to transport a space from Copenhagen to Amsterdam.

“BORDERS” (2020-23)
Canvas ca. 180cm x 120cm, acrylic,
ink drawing on A0 paper (not made by me), UV paint, UV spotlight

And here I stand, on my side, with privilege
With no difference between me and you,
No choice of where we took our first steps,
on the ground in the imperial core
Or outside of it
What that ground of the greedy poisoners
has decided for my future
and for yours.
How one can move freely,
and one can not.
Here I stand, with my privilege
feeling powerless in the aim for change.
But don’t get fooled
infiltrated to walk their walk on the road they made.
The structure wish us to feel powerless
so they can maintain the power
Always ruling in one's favour
Spinning our heads in their direction, keeping us busy in the wheel.
While it keeps growing stronger, yet it is actually so fragile
The structures of destruction, right there to destruct
They are using us as fuel, but right there to burn
That is the power of the invisible hands.

So to you,
that stands with your privilege beside me.
Don’t let the despair defeat you, just because you have the privilege to.
Because we can afford to stay in comfortability with nothing touching us,
yet.
The impossible only becomes possible
When we burst the bubbles
Seek history out of the frame they gave us, to understand the full picture
Be curious to what you don’t know
and humble to what you will never be able to relate to
Let the invisible become visible with knowledge
Keep being loud
Let your steps be a disruption for those who profit.
Dismantle the road, and build new
Keep fighting for a different world
For ALL
Till we all got the same cards in our hands

WATERFALL (2022- ongoing research/project)
Negative prints of instagram screenshots, plastic film sheets

I am not showing you something, you’re not already seeing. But I want to draw attention to what you are constantly looking at.

The normalised ongoing contrast we face on a constant basis, that no one talks about.
How we go from children being bombed, to “what I eat in a day”.
From genocide, war and exploitation to matcha lattes, million dollar cars and lip fillers. From one lifestyle living on the shoulders of anothers cost, with less than a second of a thumb movement.
The infinite flow from one reality to another, and us just being observers behind a screen.

This was displayed hanging in between works at my open studio exhibition “FACE IT” the summer 2023.
This is an ongoing project, where I have further used these contrasts in different ways and is still working with.

“DROWNING” (2022-2023)
1,5 m x 2 m
Acrylics on canvas, layers on layers

I worked with the themes of capitalism, city structures in contrast to nature, buildings getting higher than the mountains, despair, borders, pollution, destruction and human greed.

This one started out as a blind painting (as seen in earlier post as a colour explosion) to break the white surface of the canvas and my need to control the motive. Many layers later, and me ending up being fixated on the smallest details, this is the result.

This one took a long time.

“I’M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU WHAT TO FEEL” (2022)
From “FACE IT” open studio exhibition August 2023
-Glass sheet, acrylic paint, nails, black yarn

I worked with the emotions of heaviness, powerlessness, despair, the power of broken systems, connections, grief and inadequacy.
When it came to create a title, I didn’t want to push my own feelings to influence the viewers. Maybe you relate in another way.
