Still thinking about this day in Meru.

We were closing off the last Shamba Session, and it ended up being such a wholesome, beautiful day surrounded by creatives, good conversations, music and just really good energy.

@piye_ke is honestly such a beautiful space. There’s something about how open and welcoming the space is that makes you want to create, connect and just be. It really is such a lovely destination, and I’m grateful to have experienced it.

The cards have spoken…

For anyone who’s seeing this for the first time, @254playback is a Kenyan music & culture card game, basically a whole lot of Kenyan music, nostalgia, artists and memories packed into one deck.

The kind of game that has you remembering songs you completely forgot about, putting artists back on your playlist, and arguing with your friends over who actually knows their Kenyan music.

I think one of the biggest things this year has taught me is that sometimes, you just need the right people around you to remind you who you are.

Being around creative people, creative spaces, and people who genuinely see me for me has changed so much for me. People who encourage my ideas. People who support my work. People who make me feel like I belong in these spaces. It’s made me believe in myself and in my journey in a way I hadn’t in a long time.

For the longest time, I honestly felt like I had missed my chance.

I had always wanted to create. I wanted to be in creative spaces, make things, tell stories, collaborate, be part of something. But life happened. And somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that maybe my time had passed.

And watching so many young creatives come into this space, take up room and absolutely kill it made me wonder if there was still a place for me.

Turns out… there is.

This year has been such a beautiful reminder that there is no timeline for becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be.

I took a chance on myself. And then I found people who took a chance on me too.

And suddenly, I’m here. Creating. Showing up. Trying things. Meeting incredible people. Making things I’m proud of. And realizing that maybe I wasn’t late at all.

Maybe I was just getting here in my own time.

So, yeah… I’m really grateful for this season. 🤍

Here’s to taking the chance, even when you’re not sure it’s your time.

A week that reminded me why I started creating in the first place.

The Dentsu School of Influence wasn’t just about content creation. It was about finding your voice, understanding what brands are really looking for, protecting yourself as a creator, and having the courage to show up, even when you’re nervous.

One of my biggest takeaways? Your biggest advantage is being yourself.

Thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge, experiences, and insights throughout the week. I’m leaving inspired, challenged, and excited for what’s next.

And because learning is meant to be shared... I’m bringing all of this back to you.
