Every story has an end 🔱

Everyone’s got a favorite spot if they’ve explored long enough or even just browsed the internet, for me this was easily one of them. Proctors Theatre in downtown Troy Ny. This 2200 seat theatre sat empty and in a beautiful state of decay since 77’. A perfect example of 1920s neo gothic architecture outside featuring amazing masonry work all the way to gargoyles over looking the street below and ornate features inside at almost every turn you’d see something impressive . Today the theatre is being redeveloped and turned into Troy’s permanent city hall, from all the pictures I have seen most of the color has been painted over , along with most of the seats and I believe the curtain is gone as well . I am always glad to see a special place saved rather demolished but unfortunately this place will never show movies again. by @__gordoon

Memories ran deep 🎟️

After closing in 68, this place has sat vacant and decaying. At almost 2800 seats this place used to be lively and extravagant to say the least. This triple decker mess was once a symbol of much more than you can see today. I walked around for hours in here looking around and trying to feel the significance that people that once came here must of felt and tried to really understand how you can walk away from such a beauty. From bright colors , ornate seating and light fixtures, vaulted ceilings and hand painted murals it was hard not to be in ahh looking around . Unfortunately it happened and still happens far too often where things like this are simply demolished or replaced by cheaply built garbage that’s ugly to everyone. History has a fascinating way of making me think of where we’ve come from and where we’re all at now. I think it’s safe to say so much has changed and maybe not so much for the betterment and beauty of the places we spend our time at. by @__gordoon

Shows over 🎭

Abandoned vaudeville theatre opened in the 1920s that’s been closed since 74’. Today the theatre is a crumbling mess but there’s lots of ornate details amongst the decay. by @__gordoon
