🥭Mango Illusion Dessert that melts in your mouth!

It looks exactly like a real mango, but once you crack the thin chocolate shell, you find a light, creamy mousse with mango chunks inside. It’s a unique sweet treat. A must-try at @vivacebirmingham

When we visited at the beginning of the year it was priced at £8.00.

The place itself is so aesthetic, cute, and cosy.

📍 Taste of Khyber Restaurant

🧾Order:
* Kabuli Pulao (Medium) - £10
* 3 Peshawar Chapal Kebab served with Peshawari Naan & Salad - £16
* Complimentary sauces included

🔥Taste
* The food is flavourful and consistently served piping hot. The Kabuli Pulao is a definite must-try; it is rich in taste yet light on the stomach.
* The kebab and naan combination offers excellent value. The naan is particularly large and kebabs are on the spicier side, but delicious!

💷Price
* Very reasonable and great value for money.

🥘Portion
* Servings are generous and filling.

🙌Service
* Staff are attentive and welcoming.

🪑Atmosphere
* The restaurant is generally very busy, which speaks for its popularity. However, tables are positioned quite close together.

💡Tip
* If visiting as a family or a group of women, I suggest requesting a table towards the back or in the designated family section for a more private and comfortable experience.

⭐ Highly recommended!

If you want a bit of everything, the mixed grill is the way to go. ♨️ Shawarma Palace Birmingham📍

🍗We simply walked in and ordered the mixed grill, which was generous for £16.99. It came with two naans, sheesh kebab, sheesh wings, sheesh chicken, lamb shawarma, chicken shawarma, and a half-and-half portion of fries and rice.

🥤We also had a can of 7UP for £1.30, along with complimentary fresh salad and Kurdish tea, which was a nice touch.

✨Verdict The food itself was pretty decent. Everything tasted fresh and was well cooked. Overall, it was filling and enjoyable, especially for those who prefer milder flavours.

🍽️The experience, however, felt a little disorganised. Although the staff were polite, the restaurant was very busy and the food didn’t arrive all at once. As it’s self-service, we had to ask a few times which order was ours and where to collect plates and cutlery. Towards the end of the meal, we felt rushed as more customers were waiting for tables and staff seemed eager to clear the table which felt sudden and uncomfortable, and we ended up leaving.

🙌Overall, it’s a reasonable option for a quick meal or takeaway, but dining in may not be ideal during busy times, as the space feels a little small for how crowded it gets.

🍕 Halal + Desi Food Edition @birminghamchristmasmarket

Frankfurt Christmas Market
Every stall featured in this post is located in Pigeon Park.

Here’s how we went for it 👀

First stop – PIZZERIA
There’s no halal sign displayed, but staff confirmed the chicken is halal.

🍕 Pollo Ad Astra – £12 – 4 slices, serves 2 light eaters. The spices are very mild, but the cheesiness adds flavour, so for a German Market stall, it’s nice and decent.

If you have a sensitive stomach, this one’s for you. And with family or parents, it could almost pass as a naan with toppings 😭

Second stop – Asha’s
This stall serves chaats, kebab wraps, and Biryani. We debated paying £14 for the portion because mum said we could make it for the whole family at home for the same price 😭, but we decided to try it in the end.

🍚 Chicken Tikka Biryani – £14
It’s Indian-style, so we expected the flavour to naturally differ from Pakistani Biryani. However, the aroma and masala (spices) were overpowering, and it felt more like chicken rice than Biryani. Overall, if you enjoy rice or can handle stronger spices, it could be a decent option; but for us, it wasn’t the best choice.

🌶️ Tip: Eat the Biryani on its own before mixing in the sauces to better manage the spice level.

After this, we headed home! Keeping it real and showing what we can realistically eat in one trip

This was our first visit of the season to @birminghamchristmasmarket and let’s be real, you can’t try everything in one go so here’s what I managed to eat:

🍟🐓 Salt & Pepper Chicken Fries (£11)
📍 Grill House, Centenary Square. Honestly, really yum! Tip: ask for light seasoning so it’s not too overpowering. Might be a bit pricey, but I don’t mind paying when the food actually tastes good, and it did.

🍫 Churros with Nutella (£6)
📍 New Street. Very filling and tasty, but since it’s fried, maybe Dutch pancakes are a better option if you want something lighter.

☕ Tea (£2.50)
📍Pigeon Park. Grabbed a warm cup of tea, but the teabag barely infused, so it lacked flavour.

📍Sandwich. Great Barr Birmingham 🌸

I’d also like to add that I specifically went for the hot chocolate after seeing that it comes with beautiful art featuring the “I ❤️ U” . Unfortunately, they didn’t have that stencil available on the day. I was told they’d try to arrange something for me, but when it was served, I was told, “That’s all we could do,” which was quite a letdown.

The sandwich was dry, and the mint sauce was overly tangy, it didn’t complement the sandwich well at all.

On a positive note, the French Berry Toast was really good. The white sauce on top truly did it justice, and that’s the only item we’d actually recommend.

The place itself is cute but far too small for my liking.

Overall, it’s overpriced and overhyped, but it definitely delivers on aesthetics

Waffles that satisfy your cravings and your wallet🧇🍓 only £6.99. Shocking, right? Same!

🤤We visited this spot after 5pm, we missed out on brunch but Drinks and dessert were still available. As I wanted something cold, so I tried the Iced Spanish Latte for the first time, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it.

☕️Mama wanted Karak Chai which was sadly not available as it was near their closing time so she went for the Chai Latte instead, which she actually liked! (Chai Latte’s pretty much like Karak Chai, just creamier and with a bit more cinnamon) We ordered the large Cup, but if you are a Chai person we would recommend going for a small as it gets a bit rich with the cream.

🧇🍓When it came to dessert, we couldn’t decide between the French toast or waffle, so we asked Zaid (server) for help — he recommended the waffle, which made me happy because waffles are my fave so I went for Nutella and strawberry waffle and honestly, it did not disappoint. Super filling and so delicious.🤤

💙The place itself is clean and quite spacious, so you can move around comfortably. It gives cozy vibes, especially with the cute little pods. It wasn’t busy when we went, which made the whole experience super peaceful.

💷Our total came to £17.13 including service charge — it would be nice if they mention it before adding it to the bill,
but overall, the service was great by Zaid and we’d definitely visit again.
