I’ve wanted to write something about Daisy but nothing seems enough, nothing seems to be able to quite explain how much she meant to me, to us.

Life without her is so very quiet, it’s lonely and sad, we miss her so much, we will do forever. She gave me so much purpose and brought so much joy, if you have a dog you’ll know that unique ability they have to make you feel so loved and special, to them you are everything. I miss that.

Daisy’s was my soul dog, my forever love. I spent so much time with her Gav used to say we were basically one person. For 16 years she was my best friend, I’d give anything to see her again, even for 1 minute.

She was stubborn and bossy and liked a routine, just like me. She often told us when to go to bed and when to get up. She loved just being with us, she was better travelled than some people, if she saw us getting ready to go out she waited at the door so we wouldn’t forget her.

She loved Friday nights snack bowls, roast dinners and chicken nuggets from McDonald’s. She loved the beach, walks in glendalough, paddling in the lake, Puppachinos at the weekend and almond croissants from the fat fox. She loved going on drives and always had to sit in the front, she loved people, like so so much, we often said we think she thought she was a human. It’s mad how many people knew her and said hello to her everyday, when she got really sick and I would carry her in her bag people would always stop to check on how she was doing, she was so loved.

Daisy loved holidays, we always made sure to bring her on at least one each year, she’s been on so many trips, she even has a passport. When we found out her cancer had returned we booked a trip to cork, we knew it would be our last one together and I know she had the best time.

We made sure to include her in our wedding, she’s wore a beautiful foliage collar to match my bouquet and she walked down the aisle, she loved it. I found a video the other day my friend Lauren sent me of Gav’s speech and Daisy is there just standing behind us. It’s so special.

I know we gave her the best life and I know that she gave us her all, everyday. But it doesn’t make it easier.
