Made a quick trip to Mamdani’s city this weekend with @herringbonebindery! Whirlwind trip full of food and catching up with friends.

First stop Korean lunch! Jjigae on a hot day 😋

Went to the Morgan to see the tarot exhibit and to smell old books.

Friends forever! 🐿️🦔

Feeling simultaneously so cringey for taking photos of myself in my very visible yard and thankful for #memademay giving me a reason to get dressed even though I never leave the house anymore 😂

Dress: #memade McCall’s #m8570. This was a rush sew before we went to Malaysia last summer. I wanted something light and modest for the brutal Southeast Asia heat, but I don’t think I ever actually wore it on that trip! It honestly doesn’t fit me very well in the arms, which was probably a sensory nightmare while I was feeling like a swamp monster. by @__jacqus

I’ve been sewing my own clothes for about five or so years now. Not to the point that I have an entirely #memade wardrobe, but enough that I finally feel up to joining in on #memademay!

Today I’m wearing the top view of @patternfantastique #validress. I used a special tuck technique for the front and back yoke (inspired by seeing @martha_moore_porter post about her recent heritage sewing workshop) in a printed cotton I’ve had in my stash for YEARS. The top feels weighty and flowy at the same time. by @__jacqus

Spent a very chic week in London + East Sussex and really miss the sheep that lived behind our AirBnb.

Feel very lucky to be able to support Timothy and watch his practice grow. 😍 taken in Beachey Head by @__jacqus

Uff da! Finished this massive quilt top just in time to take photos of it in the fresh blizzard powder! Been working on her since last summer and my studio is a MESS!! Wanted a project that I could dig in to my many boxes of scraps with, and also teach myself a number of piecing/appliqué techniques that I’ve been wanting to learn. Will probably spend the next 6 months quilting it by hand 🙃 by @__jacqus

For his birthday, Timothy very sweetly asked me for a framed photo of me to put at his desk (🥹). I normally cringe at getting my picture taken and rarely feel like the result looks like what I think I look like. Not at all true with these magical tintypes by @rachelmaevephotography . She somehow managed to capture exactly how I feel in my body with a 6 second exposure and some crazy chemicals. I feel like Timothy’s birthday present was more of a present to me but it was so fun to give them to him nonetheless. 😅 Can’t recommend Rachel enough for anyone looking to document or celebrate anything. 🤍🩶🖤 by @__jacqus

Kota Bharu through food.

I think some of my favorite foods have been here. Helps that Timothy’s parents know all the spots to take us to. Hard to say for sure what my favorite has been though—I’m blown away by the variety of dishes I’ve gotten to try over the last two weeks!

Moved into a new home studio recently and slowly getting back into the swing of making things. Drawing has been something that I’ve turned to lately when sewing feels too laborious. The immediacy of being able to layer color helps me play in a way that I haven’t figured out with fabric, but I see these as little quilts and can’t wait to figure out how to make that happen now that I have some space to spread out. by @__jacqus
