Makhi Easterling, a class of 2029 defensive back out of Miami Central Rockets standing 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, is already making his presence felt at one of Florida's most storied programs. Through his early varsity action, Easterling has recorded five tackles and two pass breakups, numbers that reflect a player already competing and contributing rather than simply developing on the sideline. What stands out most on tape is his football IQ — Easterling reads the quarterback with a maturity that is uncommon for a player at this stage of his development, allowing him to anticipate routes and put himself in position to disrupt before the ball arrives. His hips are fluid and show the natural looseness that defensive backs need to mirror receivers in man coverage without losing their leverage. Those good hands give him legitimate ball-hawk potential at the next level, turning coverage reps into potential interception opportunities rather than just defended passes. Coaches at Miami Central have utilized him all across the defense, a sign that his football instincts translate beyond one specific role and that his versatility is already being recognized at the high school level.
