In the 1960s, Marlboro didn’t just sell cigarettes. They sold an identity. Before the cowboy ads, Marlboro was originally marketed toward women. The filter was even called “Mild as May.” Then everything changed. Advertising agency Leo Burnett Worldwide rebuilt the brand around the American cowboy. Quiet. Tough. Rugged. Uncompromising. The “Marlboro Man” barely even talked. He didn’t need to. The image did all the work. Wide open land. Dust. Horses. Leather gloves. Freedom. They attached the cigarette to masculinity itself. Not “buy this product.” More like: “this is the kind of man you become.” It became one of the most successful advertising campaigns ever made and completely changed how brands sold lifestyle and identity after that. #moreside by @__moreside_______

Kurosawa made Ran when he was 75 years old. And somehow it still feels bigger than most films today. The colors. The smoke. The silence. Every frame looks like a painting that’s falling apart. One thing I love is how the camera rarely rushes. Kurosawa lets chaos happen inside the frame instead of cutting every second. It makes the war scenes feel real and sad instead of “cool.” Also crazy that he used real costumes, real horses, and huge landscapes with almost no CGI. Just pure filmmaking. You can feel every bit of pain in the wind. #Cinematography #kurosawa #Moreside by @__moreside_______
