WASSSSSUPPP FAMILY!!!! I have BIG NEWS😎

More often than not people in the running world will tell you “fuel and hydrate” but not many will tell you how. Last fall I realized I wanted something to help me hydrate but also caffeinate. I tried a number of things but it was the SaltStick chews that did it for me. They were very fast acting, easily able to be carried with me on my runs and during races. And they tasted good, I also didn’t feel like I needed to immediate chase it with water.

I then found myself saying “you need to carry some fuel” and the best way to look at that is carbs and electrolytes hahaha simply put. I learned I was absolutely an energy gummy guy. I sing out loud while running so chewing or “snacking” would be easy hahaha. I found some individual packs at a local running store and then again at a race expo…boy was I victim of supply and demand 🤭 paid well over retail price, in the name of expo/packet pickup day. So after realizing “hey I really like these, I started buying them in bulk!

I started to realize I had the technique that worked really well for me. Hydration. Energy. Good Taste. And most importantly FAST AND BENEFICIAL TO MY PERFORMANCE! Now, I had no clue later I’d get an email from the people at @saltstick telling me:

“Welcome to the family! We’re thrilled to have you on board as a member of the 2026 SaltStick Sweater Crew. 🚀 Get ready for a salty year!”

What a year. 2025 pushed me, changed me, and surprised me in the best ways. I’m proud to announce l’ve been selected as a 2026 Cleveland Marathon Ambassador!
Honored to represent my city and run this race on the land that started it all for me. Cleveland, get ready. . . I’m coming HOME🏃🏾‍♂️

I got invited to participate in the Atlanta Lululemon Take Space: Giving Black Leaders their Flowers event. Which was a
workout event led by lululemon Ambassadors.

Take Space is lululemon’s year-long platform for celebrating and investing in our Black Ambassadors, Black employees, and greater Black Communities alongside allies. We were all encouraged to invite someone into the space that we thought would benefit from the experience. Everyone was gifted these super comfortable sets,then took an easy pace run with our guests and local ambassador along the Beltline which we wrapped up with an on mat somatic practice.

I was asked “what does taking up space mean to you & tell me something you’re grateful for”. To me, the short answer was—it’s owning who you are and the commanding energy you have. I spent some time reflecting on that thanks to a comment “Oh Mort without a doubt takes up space” and the funny thing is…I haven’t always been that person.

For many years, I stayed “in the box”. I did all the “right” things, and I said yes way more than I should have. I shrunk myself to make others feel comfortable, and often times questioned if I belonged in the spaces I existed in. Until one day—I said 🖕🏾it. I came to realize

1. You’re never going to satisfy everyone.
2. Some spaces you’re not meant to occupy and 9 outta 10 it’s because you’re bigger than said space your shrinking to fit into.
3. Love every single part of who you are and own it. Embrace it so unapologetically. And 🖕🏾 those offended by it.

And to many, my “something you’re grateful for” was a shock. I said FAILURE! And it’s because its taught me so many valuable lessons I needed to learn. It’s help mold me into the tenacious man I am today. taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @__mortb

@therace_uc Expo was a solid 10/10 from the large collection of official race merch. The insane amount of local black owned vendors on site. The super dope emcee that kept the outside party going. Super intentional photo pop-up moments, food that smelled so good you really had no choice but to support. I can’t lie—it was giving the black family reunion. But ya boy couldn’t go into expo and NOT leave with some of this years collection 🤭

Side note—I also bought the second race jacket they had after the race was over hahaha🛍️ by @__mortb
