Year 36 has been nothing short of transformational. This is more than a birthday post, it’s an appreciation post.

This week alone I was able to immerse myself in healing horses, visit with gentle Highland cows, savor the most delicious meals, and spend quality time with all my favorite people.

Although, THIS YEAR has been so much more than the experiences, it’s been about the journey of growth—shedding relationships that no longer serve me, gaining awareness in myself/others, and waking up every day to the beauty I see around me.

The year I chose ME. I chose to honor myself with the love, space, and energy I’ve so often given to others. I’ve dedicated time to healing. Not just the physical kind—I’ve shed more than inches and pounds, but the deep, invisible scars that so often go unnoticed.

Change is never instant; it’s the result of tiny, daily choices. Every step, every decision, every moment of hard work has led me to this version of myself—a version I am proud of. I’ve poured so much love, sweat, and dedication into becoming the person I am today. And I’m not stopping.

I am so proud of HER—the woman I’ve fought for, grown into, and embraced with open arms. This is only the beginning.

So thankful for all that have laughed with me, shared memories, supported me, and just shared this ride called Life with me. Cheers to another trip around the sun! 🌞 taken in Tennessee by @__ms.ace

This post is for ME. My journey and the growth. We all have our own past, trauma, and hardships—this is to praise myself for the woman I am today. I had a million reasons to not post this, and I made a choice to do it anyways. I am proud of my progress and if it helps anyone on this platform, it’s worth it.

I’ve lifted weights for over 15 years, but remained a binge eater when life threw me rough patches. Particularly, stressful ones. I gained a lot of weight after a toxic situationship that led to an SA in 2021. Healing hasn’t been linear. Years of counseling for the emotional scars, followed by this last year of movement, and a powerful Raize community to help me shed the physical walls I built up around myself.

I could have dwelled and blamed myself for getting “so big” or wonder why my friends and family didn’t call me out on it—but none of that matters now. All that matters is what I’m doing to change for the better.

I stayed in a calorie deficit and mindfully eating, not restricting. Stayed consistent with my workouts for months and reached a milestone of losing 50 lbs/over 20 inches around August of 2025.

However, in September of 2025 all my hard work was put to a stop. I got E. Coli poisoning that left me unable to hardly eat, drink, or train for almost two months. I had to get intravenous hydration and was surviving to get my GI system back to normal. I realized I took so many things for granted. I took eating for granted, drinking my 80 oz of water for granted and more importantly—being able to exercise for granted. All these things are gifts we are blessed to do, not a guarantee. Injuries can strike at any time and so can illness, taking away all those blessings in an instant.

Wellness isn’t promised. It’s the choices we make on a daily, minute by minute basis. A choice that we have to keep making even when life throws us curve balls knocking us off track and straight DOWN. The difference is I kept choosing to get back UP.

We really do have the best time together. This Christmas was extra special. From just laughing and being goofy, car rides & singing, nature walks, our yummy feasts, and exploring the magical Biltmore—a time was had. You made it to your “dirty 30” around the sun and I swear it feels like just yesterday that we were celebrating your 21st. We’ve been through the lowest of times and the highest of times—10 years in the making!! Wow. We always stay surviving the storms together and laughing til it hurts ✨
