#findings On a trip to Madasari, we’re witnessing Tarawangsa. Tarawangsa is a sacred Sundanese ritual performed to express gratitude for all blessings, especially the harvest. This ritual begins with the recitation of sacred verses, prayers, and praise to God and the ancestors. The ritual then continues with dancing accompanied by traditional musical instruments, the tarawangsa (two-stringed rebab) and the kecapi jentreng (seven-stringed zither).

In my observation, this ritual demonstrates awareness of nature and how humans coexist with it. Amidst the fast-paced modern life, observing this ritual seems to be a way to slow down and restore awareness of living with nature.
Another equally interesting aspect is how this ritual is performed with various artistic decisions. From the way they arrange the ritual area using carefully arranged white cloths, the way the harvest is gathered and arranged, the use of incense at various points, to the music played to accompany the dance, all represent a conscious practice of art and design that builds this ritual. by @__plantsiure
