LI SOTI !!!!!! Notre EP "ZONBI" est dehors pour vous rencontrer. Dispo sur toutes les plate-formes ainsi qu'en vinyles maxi 45t.

La couverture est tiré d'une pièce originale de @dimiandydada intitulé "𝐀𝐧 𝐀𝐥 𝐍𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲è" (Allons au cimetière) , datant de 2024. La toile représente des zonbi attirés par le son du saxophoniste @shion_iwata.

LANMOU AK LANMO (l'amour et la mort) IS OUT!!!

"Et comme dans un film de zombies où il reste toujours à la fin un cadavre planqué dans un coin sans qu’on s’y attende, « Zonbi » cache un dernier titre sur le vinyle.

À la manière d’un au revoir, Lanmou AK Lanmo traite cette fois de relations sentimentales toxiques sur un riff bossa nova qui aboutit à un refrain plus abrupt. Il s’agit du premier morceau sur lequel ce n’est pas Shion Iwata, mais Dimitri Milbrun qui enregistre le saxophone après seulement quelques mois de pratique. "

From Paris ZONBI - blend their no wave influences with jazz
and then fuse those with mizik rasin, a genre born in Haiti
centred around drums and voodoo rhythms. The result
is rasin wave.

ZONBI is raw, intense; it doesn’t charm, it cuts right through
you. At the heart of the band, the saxes spits out dissonant
incantations in dialogue with the powerful, frenetic rhythms
of the bass and drums duo. Dimitri Milbrun’s lyrics, sung in
Haitian Creole, aren’t there for decoration but to make a stand.

A zonbi is a soulless body, stripped of its free will: the band
sees this as a mirror, reflecting a world that locks everyone
into a box. ZONBI rejects this obedience and re-enacts it at
every gig, haunted by the Bois-Caïman, the night when Haiti’s
history took a dramatic turn

Colliding the energies of dub, no wave, goth, jazz and punk, the sound produced is a rhythmic cacophony - part satire and part protest ; confronting themes of class deterioration / societal decay and a corrupt UK government.

In this previous year, you would’ve found Zonbi playing across land, across borders, this music they once crafted in tiny soundproofed rooms. Once witnessed by a sole broken man, this music has now been performed to hundreds of souls, souls who didn’t even speak their language, most who would never understand their words. Zonbi performing and tracing in the imperceptible, a deep connection linking one another, An understanding of where one begins and ends. Like limbs reattaching themselves together.

A strum, a pluck, a hit, a blow, a sound. The sound.

Music is the simplest art for a human to make. Out of nothing, a melody, a rythm, a lyric can be made. You could brush your hand through air and catch the music with your bare hands, or feel its vibrations through you feet, its warmth in your chest.
To make music out of something demands attention.
To make music out of something with others demands connection. We’re all animals in a cage of societal conditioning, a cage isolating us from others, from ourselves. An animal unheard, muted by it’s lack of language.
To make music out with others is conversation. 1/2

The known, the format, are only there to guide you. But with will, boundaries can easily be pushed. And here, in a perfect haven in a gentrifying fishing town, in an eerily empty concert hall where the floor should stick with beer stains, and the light should be on the stage and not on the floor,
In this place where music is engrained in every inch of the walls, where lovers once danced after choosing each other,

Zonbi crafts once more.
And boundaries
Are touched, pushed, broken.
Almost everyone needed is reunited here (And the absent one is present in their minds)
To chase sounds on divine horses lead by this newfound synergy
To tell new and old stories on tamed rhythms soaked in ancient textures
To recapture and readapt old genres that flow like blood through the roots of a home country
To translate to listenable form the raw emotions and rage inhabiting the inner anim taken in Le Tetris by @__zonbi___

Et voici le line-up complet du 7 novembre ! “Une sacrée soirée”, comme dirait Jean-Pierre Foucault :

* Moreish Idols (UK)

Entre krautrock format FM (si seulement on pouvait l'entendre sur nos ondes), art rock cotonneux, psyché mélancolique et post-punk jazzifié : leur musique semble émettre un signal venu de plusieurs mondes à la fois.

* Zonbi (FR, JP, Haïti)

Free post-punk vaudou, incantations dissonantes, basse-batterie fiévreuse traversée de chants en créole. Une musique d'errance, de mémoire et surtout d'insoumission, qui ne cherche pas à plaire, mais à secouer, réveiller, hanter.

* Art School Nepo Babies (FR, UK)

Countwee pop mélancolique, harmonies sucrées et guitares lo-fi, entre twee pop et indie bricolo. Trois voix, trois instruments, et une envie sincère de composer des chansons qu'on a immédiatement envie de reprendre en chœur avec eulleux.

ASNB est le nouveau super groupe de Nick (Os Noctambulos, 39th and the Nortons, Nick Wheeldon), Suzy (Jaromil Sabor, Animal Joy Club) et Marina (Nick Wheeldon and the Make Art Band).

¡Muchísimas gracias a @moralsupport75 por la invitación y a todos ustedes por esta velada increíble! Nos encantó compartir escenario con Paul y Diles Que No Me Maten; no hubiéramos podido soñar con una mejor manera de cerrar la temporada. ¡Ahora nos vamos de vacaciones y le deseamos a Diles un final de gira fantástico!

Merci infiniment a @moralsupport75 pour l’invitation et à vous pour cette incroyable soirée! Nous étions si heureux de pouvoir partager la scène avec Paul et les Diles Que No Me Maten qu’on aurait pas pu rêver mieux comme fin de saison. Maintenant on part en vacances et on souhaite au Diles une excellente fin de tournée

✨ Fondé en 2024 par Dimitri Milbrun, Shion Iwata, Achille Bof et rejoint par Simon Harel et Tom Dalib, ZONBI est né de la volonté de fusionner l’urgence du punk/post-punk, la liberté du free-jazz et l’énergie brute de la musique racine haïtienne. Au cœur du groupe, le saxophone crache des incantations dissonantes en dialogue avec les rythmes puissant et frénétiques du duo basse/
batterie. Les textes de Dimitri Milbrun, chantés en créole, invoquent les ancêtres, dénoncent l’oubli et convoquent l’Histoire à travers des images brûlantes. Un zonbi, dans la culture haïtienne, est un être privé de son âme, condamné à errer entre deux mondes. ZONBI hurle son insoumission. Leur musique ne cherche pas à plaire, mais à secouer, à réveiller, à hanter. Chaque concert est une cérémonie : une transe sonore, un cri d’insoumission. Un hommage à la cérémonie du Bois des Caïmans, cérémonie qui scellera à tout jamais, le destin d’Haïti 🎷
