What a privilege to have my poetry published again! Thank you to @steph_rowe_author for bringing together incredible voices from around the world in this anthology, The World in Our Words II. It’s an honour to be included among such wonderful and powerful voices.

Seeing my work in print will always feel surreal, but I know how important it is to celebrate the wins. I’m simply grateful to have my words out there and hope that giving them visibility can make a difference, even if just a little.

Especially at a time when the world feels so divided, it’s deeply moving to see voices from different cultures come together. Even with our unique voices and differences, we’re all connected by the same global story. It reminds us that we’re all in this together. I’m so thankful to be part of this wonderful collaboration. 📖 🌍 💫

If you would like buy a copy to support the work of all the amazing poets, it’s available at the wonderful and iconic @sunbookshop by @_a_world_of_thoughts_

In loving memory of my Grandma/Bà Ngoại, Tôn Nữ Thu Sương, 1936-2023

As your body returns to the earth, we will not weep
We will remember what’s left in you shall never leave
From the love you have sown
To the patience you have always shown
Through hardship and unfathomable loss, you stayed strong
Stood beside your love for however long-
It takes resilience to overcome suffering again and again
And yet amid the greatest of tribulations
You remain strong-willed, spirited and generous
Never once neglecting compassion and benevolence
For your duty extended beyond tenets
It all came from the heart and mind
Of someone who understood the importance of being kind
Still, that respect you commanded through your presence
And yet I could laugh with you like a friend
And now the words I speak to you, are yours and mine
For our thoughts are tangled through shared space and time
From what you have seen
To the spirit of yours that inhabits me
And I strive to embody
Your example, your journey
Your dedication, your inner power
Grandma, do you remember when you would dig the soil as I carried the flowers?
As we took turns replanting, you showed me what it means to nurture
And as I remember you, I understand now that was in your nature
For your roots are grounded, strong
You were the tree that stood firm, weathering all storms,
Always replenishing, ensuring all your seedlings were flourishing
They are thankful, that you never once stopped flowering by @_a_world_of_thoughts_

Since turning 33, I decided I no longer wanted to put the things I enjoyed or always wanted to do on the back burner just because I had to focus on ‘more’ important priorities in my life. This year, I decided to pick up tennis again and take it a little more seriously.

I still remember picking up a racquet at 22 and thinking this was the sport I should’ve and would’ve liked to have played as a kid. While I excelled in Cricket and Footy, I think the kid in me recognises that tennis would have been the right sport for me. Though since then, I’ve only played tennis every now and then for fun, and very sporadically (it’s not the most affordable sport). Most of my tennis hours have probably come through hitting at a Tennis Wall funnily enough.

Fast forward more than ten years. Only four months ago, I played my first competitive verified UTR match. Four months later, I’ve just won my very first UTR tennis tournament—and of all places, at Melbourne Park!

I was even fortunate enough to play the deciding final match on Show Court 2. There was even an audience for part of it (3 people + maybe some keen onlookers). I still remember sitting in the stands watching Grand Slam champion Marin Čilić a few years back on this very same court. It still feels unreal… 😎🤚 🎾

This journey did not come easy, of course. Tennis is an extremely difficult sport, both physically and mentally, especially when you start as an adult and so late. You have so much catching up to do, and it doesn’t help if you’ve never had a single tennis coaching session (I highly recommend that you do, of course).

To recap my tournament journey:
1st Tournament: Lost in the round robin by two points in the tiebreaker to the eventual winner.
2nd Tournament: Reached the semi-finals but lost by three points in the tiebreaker after leading by four points.
3rd Tournament: Made the finals. Lost in the tiebreaker again. While I can blame the cramping and exhaustion of playing five matches in a day, mentally I crumbled too. (A recurring pattern)
4th Tournament: Yesterday, I went undefeated in my draw. I won majority of the important points and even composed myself when I succumbed to cramping. I held my nerve taken in Melbourne Park, Home of the Australian Open by @_a_world_of_thoughts_

Even though It’s been only a week since I was in Bangkok, I keep waking up thinking about it, how buzzing and always fascinating the city is with no shortage of things to explore. On my second and short trip here the highlights were;

Sights: Wat Arun — spectacular architecture that speaks for itself.
Experience: Exploring food markets — street food at its absolute best.
Food: Khao Soi never disappoints.
Restaurant: Baan Suan Sathon — great food and stunning scenery. The neighboring sister café is a peaceful oasis where you can catch traditional Thai dance performances.
Café: B Story — don’t miss the yuzu lemonade and world-class coffee froth art.

Bangkok never fails to amaze me. taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @_a_world_of_thoughts_

People ask me why I keep coming back to Vietnam when I could travel somewhere else.
Maybe it’s to let the other part of me grow. I love how alive I feel there, like a version of me that was meant to be, or could have been, gets a little more space to exist and to feel at home.
There’s something about returning that feels like a quiet kind of becoming.
I don’t take lightly the privilege of being able to move between worlds, to return, to belong in more than one place, especially at a time when for many, home is something they’ve lost, or can’t go back to.
Incredibly grateful for the privilege to return home and keep growing 🇻🇳✨ taken in Vietnam by @_a_world_of_thoughts_

I saw this workshop idea advertised a while ago and instantly thought it would be a perfect birthday surprise for @_a_world_of_thoughts_ ❤️

Vi's love for plants has made for an interesting dynamic in our relationship (as I am not into them at all, and his collection has been accumulating).

However we both had a wonderful time today at @botanicah.melbourne doing their beginner Bonsai Making Workshop.

The workshop, hosted by Chiara was informative, calming and chill. We had a small group mixed with plant enthusiasts and plant novelists.

The look of joy on Vi's face during and afterwards made it all so special and worth it! 💕💕

Omg, after months of consideration, we finally booked a puppy yoga session!! 🐕🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻

We both really wanted to do a session with Goldens and Labs, so when this one came up close to home, we had to take the chance! 🦮🐕‍🦺

The pups were so sweet and soft. We absolutely loved this date 🥰🥰

The staff were lovely and the venue was an artist collaboration space ❣️

We paid $79/pp for a 1h session, 40mins of yoga and 20mins of cuddle time. Well worth it!!
