Nine years since this boy changed our lives forever.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Sundown Adventureland, including the obligatory age number cake (chocolate orange this year 🍫 🍊).

New school year, new door day.

Today we had one child starting a new nursery room. Another starting year two. And Henry would/should have been moving into the juniors and starting year three.

Merryn was very excited about entering school through a different door. Lar less so 😅

Happy half birthday Henry.

I didn't realise it was his half birthday when we visited his place earlier.

We get down to Suffolk so infrequently these days. The five-ish hour drive makes it difficult to just pop down.

In the early days of having Merryn someone said to me that a lot of parenting is feeling guilty about things over which we have no control. In my experience this is especially true of bereaved parenting. Carving out space for the child who has no needs or wants is hard. He occupies my thoughts just as equally as the other two, but far less of my busy time is taken up by him. Understandably. Less than I'd like though.

But the universe made today the day we were around to visit. The sun shone, just as it did seven and half years ago. Keep on shining Henry. by @_abcdefgeorg

"I loved the Boy with the utmost love of which my soul is capable, and he is taken from me - yet in the agony of my spirit in surrendering such a treasure I feel a thousand times richer than if I had never possessed it." William Wordsworth.

Seven years of you, our gorgeous Henry.

We made a cake and Merryn drew a picture of the two of you together (arms are only drawn if necessary for holding something).

2023 has been a good year, finished up with a visit to our biggest boy 💙 by @_abcdefgeorg

Six!

We spent the weekend by the sea, playing in the sand, eating fish and chips, winning tickets in the arcades. We made a birthday brownie in the shape of a '6' which Merryn helped to decorate, and together we blew out six candles.

Today Laurence is dressed all in foxes for you 🦊, later we'll eat more birthday brownie and take your sister and brother to visit the circus. As ever we wonder who six-year-old you would have been. Our wonderful boy, our lovely Henry.

I think you would have enjoyed these birthday celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who has remembered Henry with us today 💙 by @_abcdefgeorg

Five minutes ago we brought our squishy baby home from the hospital and now she's off to big school. Our lovely big girl ❤️

I hope it's a gentle week for those who should have had a 4 or 5-year-old starting year R this week ♥️💙💚🧡🩷 by @_abcdefgeorg

My boys 💙💙💙

Merryn didn't want to visit Henry's woods with us this time.

Then there were five, and our family is as incompletely complete as it can ever be 💙🧡💚

Laurence (Lar), our beautiful third baby. We love you beyond words 💚

Five years of you 🎂

I can't believe I have a school aged child. In the beginning I couldn't contemplate the next five minutes, how life could inexplicably just keep on going and now here we are five years later.

You are part of everywhere I go, everything I do and we celebrate you everyday.

My beautiful Henry, my darling five year old. I love you so much and I always will. Mum 💙 by @_abcdefgeorg
