Lately I’ve been thinking about the balance between playing parts and being creative. I believe there’s value in honoring the song and the parts that make it what it is. At the same time, there’s also value in creativity and responding to a moment in a way that feels genuine. For me, the goal isn’t choosing one over the other. It’s learning when each is appropriate. Every time I play, I try to ask myself if what I’m adding serves the song or distracts from it. Curious to hear your thoughts. How do you balance parts and creativity?
