AMAHOUSE May edition went off

Our Winter/Spring Events at @newamsterdamcafe were truly something special.

‼️🚨POSTPONED to JUNE 20th 🫶🏾

For the past 2 years I’ve been working on my new EP “W” — and I am SUPER DUPER excited to finally share it with you all.

“W” is a World Cup-inspired project. My travels from Lagos to London to Vancouver reminded me to keep making art at a World Cup level — no excuses, no shortcuts, just the pursuit of something real. The W is not just winning. It’s the relentless pursuit of expression, leaving the world a little richer than when you entered it.

Growing up in Nigeria, football was everything — the way hockey is everything in Canada. The World Cup was the one time enemies didn’t exist. Pure joy — for families, for cities, for kids watching on glowing TVs believing anything was possible.
Come join me at the Jersey Party where we celebrate wins — no matter how small. I’ll be playing this short project live with the 10-piece band Supertribe and Bo Henrik. A live music fusion of Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, R&B & Jazz.

I can't even put in words how grateful I am to MYSELF for achieving this🥲

8 months of dedication has finally paid off.

I brought home the "Artistic Ace Award" out of 55 competitors. This award was something I always strived for as a young one but never got it. Now at an age I would never imagined competing did I finally earn it!

Shout Out @vanphoenixgym and all my training buddies who kept cheering me on every practice🙏🏽

Now... we rest ☺️

AMAHOUSE is back May 16th at @newamsterdamcafe
Fusing dance, art making, style, community and a love of South African music, this is not just a party it's a movement. And we want you to join us on the dance floor!

We call it a Dance Jam & Art Social because....

We dance together: @_afrogirl_ leads us in Amapiano dance lessons, teaching grooves and footwork. Throughout the night we engage the crowd in interactive movement such as the electric slide, soul trains and more.

We make art together: @cydeva creates a unique drop in art activity for each event, so that you can get creative, play with art materials and try something new. In the past we have had activities like: collage, stamp art, watercolour painting, felt button making, sticker colouring, paint pen on a collective canvas mural and more.

We get social: through the wonderfully curated music, art making and immersive dance moments we encourage you to meet new people. Say hi to a stranger and be warm to those who greet you. You are invited to break free from the social stigma of only talking to who you know and embrace the South African notion of Ubuntu "I am because we are"
