Your mental health matters, even on the days you don’t talk about it. 🤍
You don’t have to be okay all the time. You don’t have to explain your pain to deserve support. And you don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to take care of your mind.
Be kinder to yourself. Check on your friends. Listen without judging. Rest without guilt. And remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 🫂
This World Mental Health Day, let’s make mental health a conversation, not a stigma.

Congratulations to Muaawin on completing 8 remarkable years! 🎉 The 8th Anniversary was truly a beautiful and meaningful celebration, bringing together speeches, debates, arts, ideas, and a strong sense of social awareness. Organizations like Muaawin play an important role in creating spaces where people can express themselves, exchange perspectives, explore their creativity, and understand their responsibility toward society. Such gatherings remind us that being productive members of society begins with participation, awareness, and the willingness to contribute. I sincerely appreciate Muaawin and everyone behind these efforts for creating such meaningful platforms, and I wish them continued growth and many more years of impactful work. Congratulations once again on 8 years of Muaawin!

Atychiphobia, the fear of failure, can appear in psychological settings as an intense fear of giving the “wrong” answer, being judged, or admitting something that feels uncomfortable. A person experiencing this fear may avoid questions, hesitate to answer, change their responses, or even lie because they believe there is a “correct” answer they are expected to give. However, in therapy, there is no test to pass and no perfect answer to find. Hiding information or giving answers based on what seems acceptable rather than what is genuinely true can make it harder for a psychologist to understand the person’s thoughts, emotions, and difficulties accurately. This can interfere with the therapeutic process because the psychologist is working with incomplete or distorted information. Being honest, even when the answer feels embarrassing, confusing, or “wrong,” gives therapy a more accurate foundation and allows the psychologist to understand what the client is actually experiencing rather than what they think they are supposed to say.

From Aaron Beck’s Cognitive Behavioral Theory, letting go of the past involves recognizing that our emotional attachment to past experiences is often maintained by the thoughts and beliefs we repeatedly construct around them. A painful experience may lead us to develop patterns such as self blame, regret, or the belief that what happened defines who we are, keeping the past psychologically present even when the event itself is over. Beck’s approach suggests that by identifying and challenging these unhelpful thought patterns, we can develop more balanced interpretations of our experiences. In this sense, letting go does not mean erasing the past; it means changing the way we think about it so that it no longer determines how we experience the present.

From a Freudian perspective, the id and the superego can be understood not as separate forces existing within us, but as different expressions of who we are. The desires of the id, the restrictions of the superego, and the decisions of the ego are all produced within the same mind, shaped by our experiences, values, instincts, memories, and choices. What we call an internal conflict may simply be the conflict between different sides of ourselves. There is no separate entity inside us forcing us to desire, fear, resist, or obey. It is still us. Even the thoughts we suppress and the impulses we struggle against belong to our own psychological reality. In that sense, the id and the superego are not something separate from the self; together, they are part of the self. Everything we think, feel, suppress, accept, or act upon emerges from within us, making the person behind all these psychological processes the real self. We are not merely caught between different parts of the mind. We are the mind experiencing itself in different ways.

When Freud said, “We repeat what is unresolved,” he was pointing toward one of the most fascinating patterns of the human mind: experiences we never fully process can continue to influence us long after they are over. An unresolved experience may quietly shape the way we think, react, choose relationships, or respond to situations that resemble something from our past. We might find ourselves repeating the same emotional patterns, making similar choices, or being drawn toward familiar dynamics without consciously understanding why. Freud believed that the mind can unconsciously recreate aspects of the past, almost as if it is trying to gain control over something that once felt unfinished. In psychology, this idea is connected to the broader concept of repetition compulsion, although Freud’s original theory is more complex than the popular quote suggests. Sometimes, what looks like a choice in the present is influenced by something that was never truly resolved in the past. We don't always repeat what we want; sometimes, we repeat what our mind is still trying to understand.
