Last Youth Nationals!

If you told the little girl in fyd at her first regionals back in 2015 that she’d come home from her last nationals with two medals… she probably would’ve just stared in shock.

My last youth nationals was definitely one to remember. After many stressful and unsuccessful nationals, I wanted to make this year different. Coming into the comp, my goals were to have fun climbing cool routes and maybe sneak into semis. But after six rounds of intense climbing, I couldn’t be happier with the result.

It’s a bittersweet end to my youth circuit, but I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to pursue this amazing sport. After 10+ years of competitive climbing, I’ve met incredible people, learned lifelong lessons, and gotten strong doing what I love most.

Huge thanks to colorful plastic rocks for giving me the best community, and to the teammates, coaches, and family who’ve been there through it all 🫡❤️

Collegiate Nationals ’25!
PSA: Make sure your chalk bag is open before getting on your route… 😬

Unfortunately, I forgot to do this on my second route and timed out just a few holds short of making finals. It was pretty frustrating making silly mistakes and ending up a few spots out of finals for both sport and boulder, but on the bright side, it was an amazing experience getting to climb all the cool routes at the TC.

Speed was a blast — I hadn’t PRed in almost 3 years, but I was stoked to get 4 new PRs in a row throughout qualis and finals, somehow landing me a spot on the national team! Although I don’t plan on training for speed in the future, It was so fun to dust off the speed shoes and race alongside so many speedy and supportive competitors.

Overall im happy with my performance at my first collegiate nationals and am so grateful I could make the haul out with @illiniclimbing and see so many familiar faces from youth comps.
