My birth story 🤍

On September 26th I was sitting on the playroom floor hanging out with the kiddies and when I stood up I felt like I had peed myself. So I changed and went off to start dishing up dinner. I bent down to get the kids some bowls for dinner and when I stood up I felt like I had peed myself again. Shook it off again and off to Kmart I went with hubby and the kids, I felt like I had to get some things to keep them entertained when I went to hospital. Once we were home, I decided to call up the pregnancy assessment unit and let them know I thought my waters had broken but also I could’ve just peed myself. I felt like I was wasting their time.

Around 9pm once the kids were sorted we headed up to the hospital and I expected to be sent home. They let me know my waters were definitely leaking and decided to keep me in to see if things progressed otherwise they’d induce me. I was 40+2 at this point and so over it.

Close to 12am they checked me and let me know I was 4cm dilated but baby was still sitting quite high and she could feel a lot of fluid in front of his head. At this point I felt completely fine and was having no contractions. Midwives considered breaking my waters but decided against it as the risk of cord prolapse was too high.

The midwife went off to talk to someone in charge to decide if they wanted to start Pitocin but once she left the room contractions started. Baby boy was coming on his own terms lol

I was aiming for a non medicated labour as that what I had with Ivy and Oliver but the back labour and back to back contractions were horrendous. Gas and air was my saviour. The birth comb was honestly useless (sorry to those who swear by it). Another thing I loved was my hand held fan, I find the hospitals to be so hot! I swear I broke hubbys hand with how hard I was squeezing it too😂

Fast forward to 2:30am and it was finally time to push. At 2:38am on September 27th my beautiful baby boy Luca was born. He had the cord around his neck twice, he was limp and not breathing. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced and the silence was deafening. I’ll never forget how many people suddenly entered the taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @_ambz._

The one thing I’ve always struggled with is what I should dress baby in for sleep. I then found @sleeplikegoldilocks that not only shows me the temperature but also shows what It recommends I dress baby in for sleep.

If there is one baby product I recommend you get it’s this! Nothing better than having that peace of mind that baby is warm 🤍

Let me know if I’m forgetting anything, my mind goes blank when I think about it 😂

I’m not going to bath him straight away so I don’t think I’ll need anything for that but maybe I need to add in his blanket too.

This it the @skiphop.aunz light up nappy caddy in the colour oat. I know it’s going to be the biggest game changer for late night feeds and changes.

So far, I’ve only packed the caddy very light and with things I’ve deemed are essential. There is definitely a few more things I need to add like dummies and my breast pumps but what else is an essential that I need?
