We are made in the likeness of the Greatest Artist.

The One who created the stunning sunsets, the grand mountains, flowers that look like beads, clouds that look like paint, our capacity to love, the intricate design in the leaves. We were created to create, entrusted as co-labourers, shining Christ’s light into the world and giving all glory to God.

‘For it is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness”, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.’ (2 Corinthians 4:6)

As creatives, we value making work to a high standard and waiting on God’s perfect timing. However, this can be mistaken for ‘perfectionism’, which can be pride in disguise.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in this same trap, you’re not alone. Personally, over the years I have held back from sharing music with the world for fear that ‘I’m not ready yet’, relying on my own strength to make the work flawless.

This can be a matter of protecting the ego instead of trusting Christ, who gave me the music in the first place, who’s grace is sufficient for us, and whose power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

If you’re a creative, a musician, or someone trying to figure out their purpose, don’t let the fear of not being ‘perfect’ paralyse you from sharing what you were created for. God can shine light through you into the world. Don’t hinder that.

‘LightWord’ releases next month. Although I could think of many reasons why I won’t be ready, I am choosing to trust in the One who called me to sing.

27! 🎂 Blessed with another year of life.

Every year that goes by, I delve deeper into the beautiful paradox of #faith . The more I trust in the Creator of the Universe, the Creator of these #mountains, the more humbled I am. The more I seek #theWay #theTruth and #theLife, the less I can lean on my own understanding. It leaves me with a simple truth: ‘when no body knows what it means, except You, I will trust in Your Word, Your will I will do’.

This snippet of my track ‘Light Word’ is totally unrefined, unmixed, and unmastered, but I wanted to bring you all along on the raw journey of producing my first song.

Trust and love always! 🕊️ by @_amyclayton
