#Experiments: Artist @_andidi projects nomadic memories onto the Inner Mongolian landscape, reflecting on cultural displacement and contemporary modes of seeing through installation 🐎 ⁠

On a remote steppe between Urad Mountain and Wuliangsuhai Lake, Xie’s ‘Nocturnal Run Scroll’ reimagines pastoral scenes through an abstracted lens, projection-mapping nature documentation onto two contrasting structures in the landscape - a collapsed high-voltage power tower and a solitary Mongolian yurt ⁠
⁠
The resulting composition presents spectral beasts in motion, layered across fragmented architectural forms scattered throughout the terrain, questioning the tensions between nature, human connection, and the industrial ⁠
⁠
The work responds to the 2025 Hongger Land Art festival theme “At the End of the Grassland Lies the Sea” - the full projection process was recorded and edited into a short film as a document of this fleeting nocturnal illusion⁠

Developed in an artist village in my hometown of Hefei, China, this series stages quiet encounters between local farmers, artists, animals, and architectural thresholds. Through cinematic portraiture, the work reflects on lives coexisting within a landscape shaped by wider systems of development, cultural production, and rural transformation.
