A full design-build walnut built-in we wrapped up a few weeks ago. Excited to see this one in-use and when the lighting is added. Sequenced 1/16” thick walnut veneer throughout.

One of my favorite things I’ve ever fabricated is the tile credenza for @dannykaplanstudio . Ceramic tiles by Danny and his team, framed in solid walnut on Brusso knife hinges, in a walnut finger jointed case. Now at the new Danny Kaplan Studio showroom in Noho. Curved shelves and desk for Almine Rech Gallery in Tribeca with a little bit of the process to get there.

Shelving finished in color matched water-based lacquer. Desk in Corian by @mittimotstudios. Design by @davidbucovyarchitect.

A lot went into the initial shop drawings of this to get the radius to match the curved wall in the space. Happy with how it turned out and it’s certainly not the only radial project that’s come through the shop recently… by @_andy_vasquez_

A little over a year ago, there was an explosion and fire that burned about most of my tools, and instantly put a shop move on the agenda. I held a raffle to fundraise buying back about a good amount of tools that got burned or water damaged beyond repair. A year ago today, I picked the name of the winner out of a bowl for what would would be this tambour door credenza. It ended up going to a great couple who just bought a house in a cool little mountain town in PA. They chose these greens (that I love, too) for the drawer fronts, and we changed the size a bit from the original to fit their house.

They needed some time to get settled in the new house, and the work just kept coming in for me and my employee. So, it got pushed down the road a bit until they nicely reminded me a couple of times they were ready for it, so Rob and I wrapped it up after a busy summer. In the fall, I delivered it to them and had a great talking with them and catching up through our one degree of Lehigh Valley separation, while we took all the moving blankets off.

Would like to thank Sarah, Nick, and everyone that participated in this raffle a year ago, you helped make the fire seem like a small hiccup, and not a major catastrophe. Cheers, and here’s to another great year. by @_andy_vasquez_

Our first job we completed after getting back to work after the fire. Two built-in units in rift white oak. The floating shelves and desk unit finished in Osmo light oak, and the unit with a standing desk and cabinets finished in Osmo birch. I have a saved story of the install of the floating desk unit if you’d like to see that process taken in Tribeca by @_andy_vasquez_

The raffle that I am doing as a fundraiser for shop fire relief is now live on my website. Link in my bio.

I am raffling off tambour door credenza that will be made in February-March. I’ve been wanting to make another one of these for a long long time. This should be a good chance to do that, recoup a lot of things lost in the fire, and give one person a piece of handmade furniture who may not be able to afford it’s usual 7k price.

Raffle will run from now (4pm EST Thursday) until 9pm EST next Thursday 1/6. The winner will be picked and announced next Friday 1/7 on here and notified by email. Donations can be made too if you rather not enter the raffle, but want to help.

If you live much more than 120 miles from Jersey City, NJ, I can’t offer free delivery if you win the piece, but please reach out to find out what it would cost to get it to you.
