POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
There are a lot of places I expected God to shape me, but I never imagined one of them would be a room full of toys.

Somewhere between forts, and all the ordinary interruptions, I realized God wasn’t just teaching me how to be a better dad… He was teaching me how to become more like Jesus.

That’s the heart behind what I’m calling ā€œPlayroom Theologyā€, and if I’m being honest, I’ve always worked really hard to be what I never had and playing with my kids has taught me not to try harder but to enjoy it more.

This isn’t a parenting series though, maybe it’s a collection of reflections from ordinary moments that have revealed extraordinary truths about who God is… and who He’s forming me to become.

My prayer is that these lessons help us slow down, notice God’s presence in the ordinary, and discover that some of His deepest work often happens in the places we’d least expect.

This song came on, and all I could think about was my girl. My princess. One of the greatest blessings God has ever entrusted to me.

A daughter doesn’t just reveal how deeply a father can love, she also calls him higher in how he lives, leads, and loves...

I pray she grows up never questioning whether her dad saw her, believed in her, and loved her with everything he had šŸ«¶šŸ½

Happy 3ļøāƒ£ years. My first son. Mi gordo!

For the longest time, I wondered if I could be the kind of father a son needed because I was stepping into something I felt like I never had. But being your dad has taught me that fatherhood is not only something you inherit. It is something you get to build…

That last video means more to me than you’ll ever know. You heard me calling, and you came running to pray with me. I hope you always know that you can run to me.

Being your dad is healing parts of me while building something stronger in you.

Happy third birthday, William. I love you more than words could ever hold mi hijo šŸ«¶šŸ½ by @_angel_marin_

This past Sunday, we had the honor of hearing from @_angel_marin_ as he challenged us to rethink what it means to live a quiet life.

Paul tells a church whose faith had ā€œbecome known everywhereā€ to make it their ambition to lead a quiet life. But quiet doesn’t mean passive, withdrawn, or uninvolved. It means faithful. Surrendered. Consistent.

A quiet life can become a loud witness when what God forms in us privately begins to shape how we live publicly.Ā So what would it look like to make quiet faithfulness our ambition?

What God is doing in you in the hidden places matters šŸ¤

God is teaching me through my kids to stop and wonder again.

Not because everything around me suddenly became more beautiful, but because He is teaching me to see what I’ve been walking past.

I’m learning that familiarity can quietly steal our awe. We can become so accustomed to God’s goodness, His creation, His grace, even His presence, that what should leave us amazed starts to feel ordinary.

I don’t want to need something new from God to be amazed by Him again. I want eyes to see what He’s already doing.

Theology Lesson 2: Wonder from the Playroom.
Don’t just move through life... be in AWE again!

Still processing and thanking God for the last few days...

We got to gather as a staff, hear vision from our pastor, celebrate what God has done, and be reminded again of what a gift it is to get to build this together.

This week also marked 10 years on staff for me. And one of the full circle moments was getting to teach on ā€œMultiplying Cultureā€ alongside @ryansworth , who taught one of my first classes when I was an intern in 2014 in this same room.

We talked about how we aren’t just recipients of culture, we’re stewards of it. We model it, protect it, and multiply it so it can outlive us.

But I loved hearing Pastor teach us about being ā€œFilled by Faithā€ from 1 Samuel 16. Samuel was filling his horn while David was working his field. Neither of them knew what God was preparing. They were simply faithful with what God had put in their hands.

That hit differently this week… I couldn’t have seen any of this from that classroom in 2014. I didn’t need to, but God was asking me to be faithful with what was in front of me.

Fill your horn. Work your field. Trust God with the story.

10 years later, I’m just grateful. For my wife, our church, our pastors, the people I get to serve alongside, and a God who has been faithful through every season.

Our first Men’s Equip was so special. It felt like the beginning of something.

Pastor Chet brought an incredible word, but one of my favorite moments was just looking around and seeing a room full of men who are serious about becoming who God has called them to be.

Men who want to follow Jesus, lead their families well, grow in their faith, and have other godly men beside them while they do it. We need more of this.

And Raleigh… if you’re a guy who’s been looking for this kind of community, we want to help you find it. Seriously. Send us a DM. We’ll connect you with some guys and help you find your people.

Grateful for Pastor Chet and even more grateful for what God is building in the men of our campus.

We’re just getting started šŸ™ by @_angel_marin_

A couple months ago, I hit 10 years on staff and in vocational ministry.

And honestly, I finally just sat down and started processing some of what God has taught me over those 10 years. After talking with a friend about it, he challenged me to actually write some of those lessons down and share them.

So that’s what this is.

These aren’t 10 things I’ve mastered. They’re 10 things God has taught me, and honestly, is still teaching me.

I never thought I’d work for a church, I never thought I’d be a pastor, and I definitely couldn’t have imagined all that God would allow me to experience simply because I was willing to say yes to what He put in front of me.

I’m learning that if you’re truly following Jesus, you never graduate from growth. He keeps shaping you, correcting you, stretching you, and teaching you.

Ten years later, I’m just grateful I said yes šŸ™šŸ½ taken in Raleigh, North Carolina by @_angel_marin_

LOVE Week is more than just a week of serving our community. It’s a reminder of our true purpose in the city of Raleigh.

I’m always amazed at what God can do when ordinary people set aside just a few hours to serve. In what feels like a small moment to us, He uses it to make an eternal impact in the lives of others.

After stepping into our permanent building earlier this year, it was important to me that we used it as more than a place to gather on Sundays. This week reminded me that God has given us this building as a tool to serve our city, meet practical needs, and share the hope of the Gospel with the people of Raleigh.

We got to give backpacks to local schools, pack meals, make hygiene kits, snacks packs, build homes, and so much more, but all of these things are simply reveling the heart of the father.

Raleigh, let’s keep being the light. Let’s continue loving our city well and sharing the hope of Jesus wherever we go šŸ¤ by @_angel_marin_

I’m learning that hurry rarely announces itself as a problem...

Most of the time, it disguises itself as responsibility, efficiency, leadership, or simply trying to keep everything moving. But somewhere along the way, I can become so focused on getting through the moment that I stop being fully present inside of it.

My kids keep exposing this in me, because they’re not obstacles to the life God has called me to live. In ways I never expected, they’re helping form me for it. They’re teaching me that love isn’t always measured by how much I accomplish, but by how fully I notice the person God has placed in front of me.

Maybe spiritual maturity isn’t only learning to do more for Jesus. Maybe it’s becoming more like Jesus in the way we stop, listen, and give our attention without treating people like interruptions.

This is Lesson One of Playroom Theology. Just one of many lessons God is teaching me through ordinary moments I never expected to become classrooms.

If this encouraged you, save it for later, share it with someone who needs it, and follow along. Lesson Two is already on the way.

10 years on staff today…

Recently, someone asked me, ā€œAfter all these years in ministry, what’s one thing you’ve learned?ā€

Without hesitation, I said, ā€œIt’s always been about people.ā€

Different campuses. Different teams. Different roles. Different seasons. But the mission has never changed.

People.

I think about Peter after Jesus’ resurrection. Three times Jesus asked him, ā€œDo you love me?ā€ And each time He followed it with the same instruction: ā€œFeed my sheep.ā€

That’s the privilege I’ve been given for the last decade. Not a position, title, but People. Because people are never a means to an end. They are the heart of God. Every number has a name, and every story matters.

I’m especially grateful for my wife @faithpmarin She’s carried the unseen parts of ministry with strength, grace, and faithfulness, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without her. The greatest gift God gave me in ministry was a partner.

Grateful for this house because I’m a byproduct of what God has done and is doing through @elevationchurch honored to play a small part in building the kingdom.

And I’ve learned that God can do more with your obedience than you can do with your own plans.

@elevation.raleigh thankful I get to celebrate this milestone while leading this incredible community.

Most importantly, thank you, Jesus. by @_angel_marin_
