Yogaḥ Citta Vṛtti Nirodhaḥ

Yoga is the stilling of the changing states of the mind.

In truth I find any form of movement can shift the state of my mind.

Āsana
Dance
Running
Walking
Lifting heavy things then putting them back down
Egg & spoon race

Whatever it is, when you move your body, something shifts…

The electricity of your nervous system.
The currents within your cells.
The rhythm of your heartbeat.
The state of your mind.

And in the quiet end, there’s this ability to step back and watch your thoughts.

The veil is lifted and you can witness what is present.

Earlier this week I read that “one prepares you, the other reveals you: When you learn to move with awareness and be still without resistance, you create a balance that extends beyond the mat, into how you think, respond, and live.”

There’s something truly magical about holding space🧚‍♀️✨ then when you get to create a practice for your friends hen, and teach people you love, the magic just permeates into everything🥹 in a garden full of daisies, we moved from the heart then played upside down🤸🏼‍♀️ @fionawithers you beautiful bride to be, thank you for your trust and for bringing us all together in this stunning place, I have so much love and gratitude for YOU💕✨

As an act of self care I move my body so I can redirect my energy so that I can continue to hold space for others.
Sometimes movement is messy, sometimes it’s playful, sometimes it’s wild and sometimes it’s slow. Sometimes the air feels textured and the fabric of my skin begins to stretch so I can breathe with more ease. Sometimes it’s all of the above.
There’s a gentle promise I’m making to myself that is to remember how much movement feels like medicine.
To move energised and to move when exhausted.
Because I know how I want to show up for others, in the spaces I teach, in the spaces I where I’m with friends and loved ones and also for this planet, this earth, our home🌱🌀✨ taken in Manchester, United Kingdom by @_annabellepeach_
