"A boy is nothing
A boy is harmless...

But a boy can see
A boy can strangle
A boy can pull the trigger
A boy is dangerous"

These are the pieces of whatever peace we have left.

One of the highlights of Beast of No Nation for me was the loss of innocence; that transition is what war actually does. It's the bulk of the loss.

It's hard to be just a child again.

Ever again. by @_anusoneye

One thing I have learnt is that war doesn't leave you the same, you might not have a torn limb, a mutilated eye, the shreds of a loved one, but in all, you start to partner with loss in some ways - you are never the same.

And this is important as Nigeria as a country draws closer and closer to the apocalypse - whatever that end might mean for each and everyone.

For some, it's hopelessness, for others it's a revolution.

We are at war, constantly, -maybe not running from shells flying over our heads, but somewhere in our heart there is a tempest anyways.

Intersecting ideologies to save society or whatever that really is, and steering narratives towards that transformation.

I do not believe words are empty, I do not believe stories are important.

Narratives are in fact weapons, used by society, in politics, in religion...in the hands of those that knows it's power.

I have told a few stories and I am committing to telling even more and more stories in the future 🤍

So I slipped in the toxic masculinity theme in one of the stories I consider the most tragic I have ever written. Not like I really write fiction though.😂
