ECHOES
Eco-tourism
Red Sea, Egypt

“Echoes” draws inspiration from the sporadic movement of water droplets and
topography. There are three circular steel sculptural superstructures, that canopies over each set of buildings. These buildings cater to educational, administrative, and liesure needs. There is ample beach space where people can savor the view and gather around bonfires. In its entirety, the design seamlessly blends with the landscape ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors. by @_archone_

BROUGHTON STREET PUBLIC LIBRARY
Savannah,GA

STUDIO 302: SITE AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXT

Approaching this design,my intent is to create a welcoming public library that engages the liveliness of broughton street. I visited the site multiple times and one of the key things i noticed, is how the liveliness stops at the SCAD Jen library. As a response to that, I’ve created an entrance that insets at the corner which features an outdoor space. The purpose of this is to draw pedestrians in. Another key elements in my design is the central atrium of the building. During research, we spoke to a few librarians at Jen library who have worked in public libraries and they gave us insights to basic library needs and the different systems in place. A major concern for them about the Jen library was the limited amount of natural light. I believe a lot of people can say the same thing. Considering all of that in my design, I placed a lot of windows around and glass walls at the north west corner as well as a central atrium that funnels light from the roof of the building down to the first level. This also dictates the main circulation of the library. As I envision strolling along Broughton Street, nearing the Jen Library, it doesn’t mark the end of my journey; instead, the broughton street public libary another vibrant hotspot amidst the bustling street of Savannah.

TIDAL HARMONY

ARCH301: Human Centered Design

This design draws inspiration from water’s dual nature, embodying both tranquility and power. It blends these contrasting elements into a unified vision, using the curves of ocean waves as a guiding theme. A winding walkway, mirroring these waves, engages visitors in the landscape, accompanied by a stream connecting to the ocean.
This dynamic interaction with water leads to an interactive art installation celebrating its essence. The main building on the right signifies community, featuring a circular gathering space, classrooms, and offices. It doubles as an emergency shelter. On the left, an outdoor area under a pergola offers a peaceful retreat. A pavilion and versatile space cater to cultural and agricultural events, complemented by an amphitheater echoing ocean wave curves. Adjacent to the farmers’ market is a public bathroom, and behind the main building, a pavilion serves as a leisure and conversation space.
This design harmonizes water’s gentle allure and transformative power. Through thoughtful design, the space becomes a dynamic tapestry where nature, art, and community seamlessly converge.

THE OASIS: CABO PULMO MARINE RESEARCH CENTER
The design decisions for this research center/observatory were made and influenced by the location, climate, research purpose, and vernacular architecture. The whole center faces East towards the ocean. This gives the scientist a clear view for observation. The center is placed at a good distance from the ocean, which provides easy access for research. It also has quick and easy access to the main roads, which is another plus for transportation and logistics. The position of both buildings was decided based on the sun path in Cabo Pulmo. This design contains one main observatory and multiple areas for contemplation. There are two separate buildings, the private and the public. In consideration of the users’ experience, this design decision was made to create a work-life balance. The “public” building consists of two floors. The first floor is the laboratory and connecting to the second floor through spiral stairs in the center is the observatory. The observatory has glass windows around the perimeter, so contrast from the solid walls to the glass windows provides a dramatic experience for the user. This is an experience accomplished by the centered spiral staircase. The buildings are connected by corridors influenced by vernacular architecture in Mexico. This courtyard and balconies were created as an area of contemplation for the scientists and a place to observe the tangible climate. This also provides space for some animals and plants to live in their habitat. The private area is designed to create a homely feel for the scientists. It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a gathering space. The aim of this design is to consider the location of this proposed center to observe the climate as well as creating a space with healthy work life balance; while infusing the Mexican vernacular architecture.

Title: SIBLINGS

Brief: You have studied: the phenomenon of unity and dialogue; the organizations of solids and voids in
volume; transformations systems of growth and repetitive operations at micro and macro scales; the technique of using drawings to track plastic strategies; and universal conditions such as gravity, the three coordinate axes, the four cardinal directions, the horizon, the earth’s rotation around the sun, the passing of the seasons, and changing weather.
Scale: 3”=8’
You will now apply this complete list of learned elements to one comprehensive final project. A home and studio for three siblings: a play-write, a painter, and a violinist. Each sibling requires:
1. a 6”×6” individual studio space, (i.e. 16’x16’, or 256 sqft). The painter’s must be min. 16 ft. tall, mostly indirect light, and contain one large blank wall, limited direct light - especially southern light. The violist must be isolated to reduce outside sound interrupting thier practice, and their practice from interrupting the other siblings. The play-write enjoys views of the street as a muse for the interactions they write about in their work.
2. a 3”x6” space for sleeping with little fenestration, natural light, or required views.
3. a shared space for cooking and eating.
4. a 3”×3” bathroom space accessible from each individual space for sleeping
5. an outdoor space for viewing the public street
6. a shared space for gathering, conversation, reading, and relaxing.

Final Project done and it was definitely something 😂. One thing for sure is that I had fun. I’m going to miss this studio but I’m definitely looking forward to the next.

TITLE : TIMEPIECE
Light at the end of the Tunnel- tough times never last.

BRIEF: Make a place that measures the changes of time. Create a set of ordered architectural spaces in which people may observe and appreciate the cycles of time revealed by changes in the weather, night and day, the seasons, and memory using all of the elements in the kit of parts and organize them within a 12 inch cubic site. Make a passage which links a 4” cube place of entry and a 6” cube place of arrival. Provide access to the highest level of your construction so that visitors may enjoy the view of the distant horizon and of the plan below. Create a variety of spaces in terms of scale, sequence, light qualities, and enclosure.

CONCEPT: “There’s light at the end of the tunnel”
Life is a journey. We all go through the journey of life with similar paths; however, it’s not as smooth as we would like. As you go through this space you will walk through dark spaces, and the little spills of light signify the bit of hope that’s present in every situation, even if it doesn’t feel like there is any. Aided by the wobbly stepping stones you’ll experience the rough stage of life. With only one way up, the stairs would lead you to the end of a journey— clarity and peace. Light at the end of tunnel

Title: EXPLORING TRANSFORMATION
 (4x4x4 cube becomes 9x9x9 cube)

Materials: Basswood, Chipboard, and Tacky Glue.

Watch my baby grow to an adult. This was such a tedious, but fun project. This was my first time working with wood and I absolutely love it. I feel very accomplished. It was a bit hard to let go of my baby but he can’t stay a baby forever ;)
