My first month of learning guitar!!! 🎸

I'm so so happy with myself, every day getting closer to playing songs and writing my own stuff >:)c
Daily practice has done so much and is such a lovely consistency to have
I find so much joy and solace in creating sound and being in my body 🎶💜

Next steps is faster and more seamless chord transitions! Which I've already been working on and making good progress 🥰

(Excuse the last vid being a little funky, lost my pick and was waiting on new ones lol haven't learned to effectively strum w fingers yet 😆 Also, just wanting to share progress and not seeking advice at this time!!)

Timeless Euphoria 🌀 — my first art show!!!

I am so honored for my first art show to have been one that celebrates BIPOC Trans & Two-Spirit creativity
We fill such a vital niche in our community, and our voices must be heard and our work must be seen!

I am so pleased with how many people came to see the show, thank you all, I hope everybody left having been impacted in some way or have learned something new :)

Thank you to my lovely friend, @vaquero_azul_art for curating the show 🩵
Thank you to @columbiacitygallery for showing our work 🩵

Color Thoughts: The Color Grey 🩶

This is the second in my poetry/photo series I'm working on :)
It is about being taken on a journey through the colors with 10 interconnected poems with corresponding photos that build a story on our deepest thoughts on a variety of topics!
The thinker and color nerd in me is thriving

The Color Grey tells us about the ambiguity in the thought process and the strength it gives us to carry on: Where am I on pressing?

Color Thoughts: The Color Black! 🖤

This is the first in a poetry/photo collection that I am working on!
The idea behind this is to take you on a journey through the colors with 10 interconnected poems with a matching photo series that build on one another about our deepest thoughts
I'm a ponderer and have bit of a special interest in color, so this is a perfect project!

The Color Black starts us off with finding comfort in the darkness for a time of thinking and beginning this journey with the question: What is beyond the sable sky?

Calling all trans artist freaks to our next trans open mic, zine release, and COSTUME PARTY 🦇 with featured artist Valeria Espinal presenting a poetic, mixed media performance work. Our MC for the evening will be @_arimar_ ! Come read your poetry, sing your songs, or perform comedy/monologue/art! FREE

Friday, October 16th, 6pm at CoCA 114 3rd Ave S

Valeria Haven Espinal (they/them) is an artist and non-binary human whose work focuses on expressing multitudes. Ancient Lives and Modern Eyes! A poetry zine performed by ME at Trans Poetic Voices zine release and open mic! 🎤🏳️‍⚧️✨️
This is a longer one, but I felt it important to share all of it ♡

I seek to use this piece to inspire us to look back at our ancient ancestors to connect with humanity on a deeper level and explore any act of rebelling against these systems
Dance around a fire to the sounds of drums beating 🔥🪘

Very proud of this work and happy with my powerful delivery
It was a wonderful opportunity and experience to be the featured poet and collaborate with @collectivemotion_ and @cocaseattle on this event!
Hope to hear more beautiful trans voices in the future at our open mics as I heard at this night ♡ and I will always continue to share my beautiful trans voice ♡

then the last one was on the spot while recording and I was like "wtf keys should I press" lol

I believe to be fluid, to be non-conforming, to be trans, is to be an artist ✨️

"My transness is a canvas 🖼
🎨 And I can paint it how I want
Gender non-conformity is an art ⚧️
🩷 Drawing on his femme heart"

Words pulled from an old poem of mine called "Not Quite a Man" that ended rather powerfully in the last stanza:

"But my point stands
That I am what I say I am
Not quite a man
But something like that
A boy with the heart of a girl
A masc who's nothing but femme
A man who's woman enough to say he's neither one"
