Happy International Ash Day to all who celebrate! 🥳

If you know me, you know I’ll use just about any excuse to celebrate, so why not take this opportunity to celebrate everything this year has taught me and all the people who helped me learn those lessons along the way!

So, in honor of this very important international holiday, here are 20 things I learned in year 20 as I say goodbye to another trip around the sun on this little planet we call home:

1. I learned that God will never give me anything that He cannot get me through.

2. I learned what it feels like to go an entire year without a single day where I didn’t feel loved.

3. I learned that everything eventually comes to an end, the good and the bad.

4. I learned that the people closest to me need to be in alignment with the person I want to become. Otherwise, they can keep me tied to the person I used to be.

5. I learned that it’s okay to be upset for a day, or even a week. But life keeps moving, and eventually, I have to move with it.

6. I learned there’s a difference between asking someone to carry my problems and allowing them to walk beside me through them.

7. I learned that this is everyone’s first time at life. We’re all figuring it out, and we’re all going to make mistakes.

8. I learned that people who struggle to give grace may have never received much grace themselves.

9. I learned just how incredibly blessed I am- in ways big, small, obvious, and easy to overlook.

10. I learned how to use GIS (Geographic Information Systems)

11. I learned how to do Pilates. Thanks, Maddie!

12. I learned that I am valuable because God says I am and if He created this entire universe, I think His opinion holds enough weight for me.

13. I learned the true value of an education.

14. I learned that I never know what someone else is carrying when I meet them.

15. I learned how to understand my own feelings.

16. I learned that sometimes the life God has planned for me looks nothing like the life I planned for myself and it sometimes turns out to be even better expected.

17. I learned that living only for myself will leave me empty, but living a life centered around serving, loving, and helping others by @_ashtynelizabeth_
