Welcome to the new rainbow library.

When we moved in April I was devastated to leave behind the rainbow library of my dreams or what my husband. When we bought our first house, the built in bookshelves in the basement were a huge selling point and there was nothing similar in the new house.

Thankfully my husband (along with IKEA and Task Rabbit) came through. We bought some shelves, hired someone to build them and anchor them to the wall, and John is kindly sharing his office so I can have the library of my dreams again.

When I set it up, I initially also decorated the shelves for Christmas. Now my question is do I keep the pink bow garland up year round because tbh it feels on brand. by @_basicbookworm

Merry Ex-Mas

Do you read holiday books when they release in September/October or do you wait until closer to the holidays?

I typically save mine for November and December, but when the opportunity to join the traveling ARC for Merry Ex-Mas came up, I jumped on it. Even if it meant reading a holiday book when the weather still felt like summer 😅

This was a fun time loop holiday romance that really got me ready for all the cozy Christmas vibes. Marygrace falls and slips on ice and ends up repeating Christmas Eve with different men from her past, with the challenge of figuring out who is “the one”. This was one of the more fun time loop stories I’ve read, and seeing how different the day was with each man was so fun. This book was a cute easy read that was made even more fun by getting to see my friends’ annotations! Add this to your holiday reading list if you haven’t already. by @_basicbookworm

Star-Crossed Summer

I love a celebrity romance, so this book was right up my alley. Scarlett and Ryder haven’t seen each other in years - not since they filmed a hit movie together and fell in love. Now, they are back for a reunion fundraiser after the town they filmed in was hit by a hurricane. I loved the snippets of how they fell in love, the nostalgia from a former movie, and how the reunion went down. This book just made my heart so happy. by @_basicbookworm

We love a spooky szn stack here.

I’m not a huge paranormal/magical romance reader most of the time, but October and Halloween season is the only exception. Here is a stack of magical, witchy, ghosty, paranormal, etc. books that I am considering reading this month.

Have you read any of these? Which ones should I prioritize??

As always candle is from @cozychaptercola - and is a perfect pumpkin scent. Use code CAT10 for 10% off your order. Grab these fall scents while you can! by @_basicbookworm

Romantic Hero

Gertie is a romance author, struggling to write her latest novel after her relationship falls apart. But all of that changes when she wakes up one morning to the main character from her book series is in her home. In order to help him get back to his universe, Gertie must finish her book. However, in the process, her feelings for the fictional character become very real.

I thought this was a fun take on the alternate universes from books. Magical realism isn’t always my jam, but this one really worked for me. This story was quirky and cute! by @_basicbookworm

Extracurricular

Thank you to Berkley and @leoprny for the gifted copy.

A pop star goes back to college and falls for the hot professor - I wasn’t sure how I would like this becuase forbidden love/age gap are tropes that can be hit or miss for me, especially when there’s a power dynamic involved. In this case, it didn’t bother me at all, the way it evolved didn’t give me the ick and felt natural. The chemistry was off the charts and the flirty emails were everything. I love Rachel Lynn Solomon’s writing and flew through this one! by @_basicbookworm

Heartless

Okay the release of these special editions may be what got me to finally try Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs series, but after 2 books I think I can officially say I’m hooked.

Heartless is the cutest single dad - nanny romance, but also make it cowboys. There’s pining, a touch of a sense of forbidden love (she is his love in nanny and way younger after all), but when he does finally fall, it is the sweetest, most protective kind of love. I’m already (impatiently) waiting for the 3rd special edition in this series to come out in October! by @_basicbookworm
