Huge winner for the boys tonight at @kydownsracing ! 🇺🇸🏇

Citrus Springs lands the $750,000 Pepsi Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes, and what a cracking ride from @_benacurtis , who just gets her home on the line. 🍊🔥

Who would have thought 15 years on, from Ben and @josephobrien93 sharing the apprentice title and creating history, they’d team up again — only this time with Joseph in the trainer’s role and Ben riding the winner!

The old brigade back together. 👊 What a story, and hopefully the start of plenty more to come!

Chasing the Crown wins the $500,000 Tight Spot Overnight Handicap at Kentucky Downs for the second consecutive year, powering home under Ben Curtis for trainer Mike Maker.

The 7-year-old son of Skipshot, owned by Paradise Farms Corp., David Staudacher & Angelo Carlesimo, scored by 1½ lengths to record his first victory since winning this very race last year.

Bred in Kentucky by Mikhail Yanakov, Chasing the Crown was a $285,000 purchase by Mike Maker from the Top Line Sales consignment at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale.

The full brother to dual Grade 1 winner Vasilika has now earned $1,421,205, with a career record of 26 starts: 7 wins, 6 seconds & 4 thirds. 👑

Happy birthday to this legend, @_benacurtis , who I don’t just call a friend, but more like a brother. The memories we’ve made over the past 20 years have taken us from Kinsale to Kentucky, Kildare to New Orleans, Nashville to New York… even if the New York trip ended with a visit to the hospital! 😂

We’ve always said we’re professional festival goers… and if Jeremy Kyle couldn’t sort us out, nobody can! 🤣

Here’s to many more laughs, memories and adventures. taken in Jimmy Buffet Margratiaville by @_benacurtis

Some people leave an impression not just because of what they do, but because of who they are.

Before our trip to Ellis Park, I reached out to jockey Ben Curtis and his wife, hoping to let them know how much this visit meant to my boyfriend, Bob, who has been a longtime fan. They could not have been more kind.

On race day, despite everything going on, Ben took the time to stop and visit with Bob. He made him feel like more than just a fan, and that moment is something we’ll always remember.

To Ben and your wife, thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for making Bob’s 60th birthday so incredibly special. It’s easy to admire someone for their talent on the track, but it’s even more meaningful to see the character and heart behind the helmet.

You gave us a memory we’ll cherish forever. Wishing you both all the best, and we’ll be cheering for you every step of the way! 🏇❤️ taken in Ellis Park Henderson Ky by @_benacurtis
