Tune in on June 3 at 9 pm ET for the first recorded concert in an exciting new #MetLiveArts electronic-music series, Sonic Cloisters. The artists in the series use the sights and sounds of three different galleries as inspiration for their music. Lost Souls of Saturn (Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa) are up first, bringing their site-specific commission to The Met Cloisters.⁣
⁣
C. Griffith Mann, Michel David-Weill Curator in Charge of the Department of Medieval Art and The Cloisters, notes the connection between the physical nature of the Museum and the artists’ creative process: “It has been tremendously exciting to see how these performers have creatively responded to the evocative spaces and collections of The Met Cloisters. Since the building itself is made up of different architectural elements, the remixing and layering of sounds finds surprising analogies and resonance within the distinct spaces of the museum, which are drawn from disparate sources, regions, and time periods.”⁣
⁣
Watch @lostsoulsofsaturn on Facebook and YouTube—no login is required. Upcoming performances include Jlin (@jlin_p) on July 8 and Dubfire (@dubfire) on August 5. Tap the link in bio to learn more.⁣

The microphone you see in the middle was used to record the music in conjunction with the acoustics of the Romanesque Hall. When the video is released, it will sound just as it did being there in person.
