Kitchen Reveal!!
A year in and i finally have a fully functioning kitchen WITH A DISHWASHER!!! It took a lot longer than I thought it would but big thanks to Wren Kitchens who provided really helpful instructions, and when stuck were on the phone helping the best they could. The quality is exceptional i have to say, especially the finish.
There is no doubt about it, fitting a kitchen will will be true test of your diy skills, but what a sense of achievement when it is done, and saved me thousands in the process. After doing one myself don't get me wrong a kitchen fitter earns there money no doubt about it, but if you are at a good level with your DIY skills you can defo do it like I did.
Big thanks to my dad as always, as its his knowledge that made this happen to a level that I believe even a professional would be happy with.

So I found myself at the pivotal point as so many other reno projects have found themselves......I RUN OUT OF MONEY!!! Lets have a look around and see what my life savings so far have got me to.
Hi-Lights
- Driveway
- Knocked out walls to make a Kitchen / Diner
- Floors Levelled
- House completely rewired
- Relevant places in plaster
- Dormer to extend the bathroom (just so i can fit a shower in there haha)
So from this moment on its paycheck to paycheck. Lets see how I can make that stretch :) by @_beyondthebuild

Found this table on Facebook market place. Turns out it was my sisters friend selling it :) I love second hand goodies. Not only are you usually saving myself some money, but also they are pre-loved therefore already full of character. It already has memories with its previous owners, now to fill it with more in its new home. Can't wait to fill my home with more preloved items such as this by @_beyondthebuild

Using a solid oak window board from Fiximer i managed to create a step for my patio doors (supported using a scaffold board) and also cover up the horrid red concrete step for my kitchen door. Took a bit of imagination and work but really happy with out they have come out. by @_beyondthebuild

Skirtings on in the kitchen diner. Went with Antique 3 from @skirting4less. Looking really good and really has made the room feel like it has come together now. Just needs a bit of filler work and glossing. Will do that when i get the rest of the downstairs finished by @_beyondthebuild

Sanding the walls down. I don't know what they used for plaster in a 1950's house, I am going to assume it was some sort of granite, as these walls are rough and as hard as rock. Taking forever to sand down, but getting a good finish is all in the prep, so its worth the time spent by @_beyondthebuild

Sample pots of paint. We all get them, and then a few more because they never actually look like the colour cards they are meant to represent. Don't waste them. As long as they are all on the same hue as the colour you chose, Pour them in some left over white, mix it all up and use it as your first coat of paint. Will improve coverage on for your chosen colour by @_beyondthebuild

So pleased im keeping photos of my renovation. Sometimes it feels like this project isnt moving but when you look back I realise how much I have done in relatively short space of time. What used to be a pretty useless and tiny kitchen (still don't know how the previous owner functioned in this space) and separate dining room with a large window, is now a spacious kitchen / diner with a patio door coming out on to the garden. Just shows you how much you can transform a space. Yes the floor is pending, I do love a brutalist look, but not that much haha by @_beyondthebuild

Its been no secret i am not a fan of the dark brown colour of my windows and doors, especially internally, but alas my budget most certainly doesn't allow for new ones. Thank god for @rustoleumuk and there UPVC paint. It has brought a new lease of life to my windows and doors.
As a side note, the paint did its job here eventually, but as much the can says direct to upvc, on the other upvc fixtures i will be using an undercoat. Took me 5 coats to get that dark brown covered. Nevertheless they look great now and really happy with the results. This is there Chalk UPVC paint by @_beyondthebuild

Little tip. Where possible try taking your masking tape off when the paint is wet, pulling the tape away from what you painted at an angle. That way you wont get any harsh edges or lines. Cant do it every time, but when you can its worth it by @_beyondthebuild
