The meaning of this picture,this book, and this place is so big to me. Around a year before this picture I purchased this book while near the end of my first month at GNP, at the time I had no idea what it would come to mean to me. Having no idea about any sort of climbing or much less where the picture was taken I told Kadence that one day I would have that picture with me in the foreground. Turns out things that you strive for will come to fruition! My life after this summer will definitely never be the same for many reasons,and I’m thankful for this day being one of them.

Me and Moab are in an interesting love affair.

Time there is always time well spent. I’ve spent probably around a month and a half there total but only for a week at a time or less, so as you could infer she keeps me comin back. From the TWO national parks to the literal surrounding area of public land there’s nothin but soul and beauty not to mention endless adventure.

From the outside the city seems like just a dinky little tourist trap in the middle of the desert(and it is) , not exactly vanlife friendly either, but she is inviting nonetheless.

Drink from the spring, go see the arches, lay in the cool grass in the park during summer, meet a random stranger and go climb with them that day, climb a desert tower,eat a hotel breakfast after sleeping in the parking lot, do the stair master as fast as possible, drink free espresso & play chess with the local characters in a back alley , get outta town & sleep under the stars taken in Moab, Utah by @_bowdrie

Step into my office, the Northern San Rafael Swell.

1/2023 ~ 6/2023

The Swell is a large geological uplift (about 90% the size of Delaware) filled to the brim with huge canyons, mesas, buttes, slot canyons, badlands, and vast deserts. With only a few small surrounding towns the swell its self has no permanent population. The only road through it is the longest stretch of interstate in the United States ,110 miles with no services.

Few places make geology as obvious as the Swell. The earth after being thrust up eroded, leaving folds, layers, and structures clearly visible. Along with that the desolate region is a host to a vast array of history from dinosaur bones, ancient Native American Art & ruins, to pioneer writings & bandit hideouts.

Now, the swell is seasonally occupied by free roaming cattle and a nomadic tribe Known as The Elements Wilderness Program. An odd bunch, they spend most of their time talking & they poop in buckets.

My first winter in Utah, where I found myself & the people I needed to grow into the person that I’m supposed to be. Pictures from my training & apprenticeship 1/19/23 ~ 3/7/23

On January 15th 2023 2 days before my 20th birthday I drove my van out to the San Rafael desert to participate in a training/ mutual interview for a Wilderness Therapy company. A job I really had no idea what I was getting into haha. The training was out in our (wilderness) field area and was 8 days. Majority of it was learning the expansive criteria that it takes to be able to work with struggling people, how to live in the elements for 8 days at a time , and how to take care of yourself. Communication on a level that I have never known was one of my biggest takeaways. Character development was constantly stressed and applied by me and my amazing staff members. I could’ve never imagined the impact this job would have on me & am eternally grateful for it. More to come! taken in San Rafael Swell, Utah by @_bowdrie

11/21/22 - 1/14/23

Drove home from California in 4 days , relished in my friends and family , got a job I didn’t know nothin bout in a place I never been, bought a 1989 Ford van, said goodbye and headed out to Utah on my own. Enter the Big Red Chronicles by @_bowdrie

Quick visit to Joshua Tree National Park to start the journey home.
For scale these guys are usually not even as tall as me! Was absolutely blown away and am so excited to come back for a true visit of atleast few weeks to this awesome place.

THE most beautiful sunset I’ve ever experienced. (Swipe to the end for THE shot)

A truly special evening under Mt.Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48. These pic have no filter and no additions whatsoever and as amazing as they are pail in comparison to the real life painting we were living in. As the video attempts to show the whole earth turned pink and a silence fell over the land as we watched from our campsite the Sierra’s set ablaze in Gods perfect image.
