Saying I’m not heartbroken would be a lie. I’m disappointed in how I performed at state, especially knowing how much work I put in to get there and how high my expectations were. That feeling stings, and it should—it means I cared. But at the same time, I’m grateful for where I am. Not everyone gets the chance to stand on that mat, to test themselves at that level, or to learn these lessons the hard way. This experience doesn’t define me, but it does shape me, and I’m choosing to take both the disappointment and the gratitude with me as I keep moving forward. taken in The Farm - State Farm Center University of Illinois by @_brody.mckenna
