Don’t mistake this advice for creating an echo chamber or “yes” people. You’ll always need people to help you keep your head on straight, but that doesn’t mean they deter you from pursuing a goal or becoming a little better than yesterday.

It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to give your mentor five years after your apprenticeship, and with this new year comes the privilege of crossing this milestone with my brother, Tim Hendricks, at Classic Tattoo.

Tucker used to drive me all the way to Hollywood so I could tattoo him out of Spotlight Tattoo, then he’d buy us dinner. Lord knows I barely had $20 to my name my first year tattooing.

Tucker’s been doing his rounds since he found out he has stage 4 cancer. So when he asked if I had time to tattoo his Mom’s name on his chest while he was in town, of course I moved things around and rang up the fellas so we could share a few laughs and trade a few stories.
