Growing up, my mum nicknamed me 'BIG EYES' - funny, since they're actually quite small. But she said I had a tendency to bite off more than I could chew. Now I realize that yes, I do have big eyes. It might be bigger than me but it no big like my GOD!

I’m taking a step to grow and explore with my favorite tool; the camera. This project has been in the works for a while, though my health slowed progress. I am trusting God for perfection. I am excited for what is ahead. Stay tuned!

pROJECT 45: A WEDNESDAY AT MADHOUSE (p8)

What did a Wednesday at Madhouse Tikera look like while I was behind the camera?

It looked like directors, staff, and interns racing against the clock to meet deadlines. It looked like someone asking, “Have you seen ___?” because there was always a team member that moves from one task to the next. It looked like students transforming every corner of Madhouse into the perfect studio for their creative ideas.

It looked like watching our founder @bayoomoboriowo share stories and lessons with great minds. It looked like welcoming visitors from Sierra Leone and taking them on a tour through a space built to spark creativity and collaboration.

On the surface, it may seem like a collection of different activities but like the branches of a tree, each one is connected to something much bigger. They reveal the many expressions of what Madhouse Tikera is; a creative enterprise where ideas are nurtured, people are empowered, and creativity is given room to grow.

Watching it all unfold made one thing clear; spaces like this don’t happen by chance. They are built intentionally, sustained by people who believe in a vision, and stewarded by leaders committed to creating opportunities for others to thrive.

pROJECT 45: HEMMED IN (p7)

One evening while reading Psalm 4:1, I paused at this phrase: ”…You have given me relief when I was hemmed in.”

Then, I began to wonder what ‘hemmed in’ would look like if it could be photographed and this self portrait came to mind.

To be hemmed in is to feel trapped, restricted. To feel boxed in by fear, expectations, circumstances, or even by the limits we place on ourselves. More often than not, the walls around us aren’t built by the world alone; sometimes, we build them ourselves.

The hair becomes a visual metaphor for the invisible boundaries we create; layers of doubt, fear, comfort, and limitation that quietly confine us. They aren’t always obvious, but they can keep us from moving, growing, and becoming. But there is always a way out if only we reach for the light. taken in Lagos, Nigeria by @_callmebuch
