Lyrics in background:

Oh, the leaves are starting to fall And the sun grows cold,

And my heart might break from the weight of it all

For all that | know

You could be holding somebody else as close

When I’m home, I’ll hold you like I’m supposed to

Yet I know that I have never told you

Darling, we could fall in love

ID: The image depicts a corner of a room with a window on the right side. The window is partially covered by foliage, allowing some light to filter through. This light casts shadows of the leaves onto the adjacent wall, creating a pattern. Below the window, there is a countertop with various items on it, including a printer, a cup, and some papers. The wall has two electrical outlets visible near the center. The overall scene suggests a workspace of Offset Project. taken in Offset Projects by @_cameraft_

(Long caption ahead <3)

I was searching for a space where let’s say a “fruit” could spark conversations and question everything with care. Whether through documentary, photography, or art, I was looking for questions that would question me and my practice, where translation wasn’t tiring or ignored but held through patience, repetition, text, apps, signs, and conversations with care.

Then @khojstudios Peers Residency happened, and everything changed.

For six weeks which I believed is the cure of my burnt out i.e to intentionally stepped in the opposite direction.

From 3–5 July 2026, during Peers Open Day, Peers Share, and the Walkthrough at @khojstudios, I got to share what collaboration means to me. I realised that ideas don’t emerge in isolation; they grow through care, trust, listening, and literally talk!!

Some things I thought were impossible became possible because of my wholesome Peers 🦋🌼🌟🕺🍄📸 @mahima.verma.k @kera_rieno @ddididdidiki @sahil_artspace @pasikuthu thank you for your curiosity, care, every shared meal, every critique, every laugh, and every conversation.

As for me, my corner became a space to slow down. A place where I could take off my hearing aids, sit in silence, reflect. Through mediums like projection mapping and text, I created a space to slow down. A space where I ask “ Can I sit with my feelings here?”

Thank you to everyone who visited on our Open Day, sat with their feelings, and shared thoughtful conversations and questions.

A special thank you to @puneet_idk for pushing me to apply for the Peers residency. I don’t think I would have taken this leap without your belief in me.

To @sameera_sardana and Gauri for holding a space for me with patience. Your guidance means alot!

To the entire @khojstudios team and @poojasood_30, thank you for making this possible and making it feel like home💖

And to @janhavi_khemka, @wannabegarbagewarrior, @pinkapopsickle thank you for always checking in and always hyping me up. Love youuu.

When Namya Chadha @_cameraft_ first got a camera in the 11th standard, she hadn't anticipated that her passion for storytelling could one day take her to the international stage. In fact, even when her recent film Behind The Ears was nominated for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne @iffmelbourne, she was in disbelief that her work had gained such recognition. "It is still sinking in," she told me. "Coming from Meerut, people have had a different level of awareness about disabilities all my life. So I am glad I got a start in my own country; this is where the awareness begins."

Namya, who is hard of hearing, calls her hearing aids her 'strength', and uses filmmaking to explore different layers of disabilities and social justice. Namya pursued Film and Video Communication from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and also participated in an exchange programme at the Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem.

From a graduation project to international cinema circuits, Behind the Ears, redefines how we view invisible disabilities in cinema. The film follows two women, Janhavi Khemka @janhavi_khemka and Lavannya Balakrishnan, as they navigate their strengths, challenges, and inner reflections as Indian women living with hearing impairments.

Namya believes that representation in film has the power to rewrite societal narratives, especially for underrepresented voices like people with disabilities, women, or queer people. But there are still many cracks that need to be filled in the Indian film landscape. "Accessibility continues to be a big gap. Something basic like subtitles is still treated as 'optional,'" she shared.

Behind The Ears
International Premiere
Behind the Ears is an intimate documentary following Janhavi and Lavannya, who are deaf and hard of hearing. As their stories unfold, the film explores how societal perceptions shape self-image. Through resilience and self-acceptance, they reclaim their identities while the filmmaker’s own journey deepens this reflection on connection, disability, and the unseen layers of identity.
